Most fans never understood his hiring & a survey of Hawks fans would overwhelming vote for a change.
Had he earned his shot with an NHL - AHL track record maybe that vote would be different. - Colbyboy
You’re changing the subject. Why when the team playing above their heads was there no talk of firing Colliton. But as soon as the team is playing how most Hawks fans expected they would is Colliton suddenly the problem? |

In the post you’re quoting I specifically say I have no idea if he’s the coach of the future. It’s not defending him it’s trying to understand why everyone is looking for his head. A month ago no one was complaining about Colliton. - paulr
Colliton has performed very well in the player development area this season, I think - the young players are generally playing well - not flawlessly, not with veteran consistency, but generally well. They do play hard every night, keeping themselves in games (even if they lose) they perhaps shouldn’t be in. And that with the two main clubhouse leaders out for the season. So I give Colliton and his staff credit for that.
But as you say - I can’t call him the “coach of the future” yet - I have a lot of misgivings about that. I don’t see his in-game decisions as being very positive yet, his adjustments. I haven’t seen much improvement in the transition game since the beginning of the season (or the beginning of his tenure here), still way too many defensive breakdowns, a generally terrible power play after the first part of the season....
So maybe this is the proverbial A to B to C situation - and the Blackhawks haven’t reached point B yet. And there certainly isn’t enough talent or experience there to begin to worry about the path from B to C.
So - we shall see. |

Not sure why
What we all know is that JC is an amateur with no system- no leadership & no track record. Rather then knocking Gerard Gallant versus Pete DeBoer it's time Stan finds a "Legitimate locker room leader not this light weight".
We need A coach players respect & respond to -
I suggest Gallant is an option.
Hopefully we can agree on that much.
If Collitan is your guy - conversation over.🤦♂️ - Colbyboy
Conversation is over. He's Stan's guy. And Stan is Rocky's guy. Oh, well. |

Don't disagree with your team analysis
But -
I'm curious why you defend him? - a rebuild is across the board which includes the leadership team
I would move on from JC because I think there's more capable leadership out there.
All I've got on this. - Colbyboy
C'mon, there's more. |

So other than the fact you don’t feel Colliton hasn’t earned the coaching position you don’t really have a reason? |

Correct
Other then no track record or coaching resume I see no reason why he shouldn't be the coach of an NHL Team. 😳
Tampa picked up 15 of 16 points against the Hawks this year. Wow

This is a very good analysis. I wonder what wiz and others think about my concern with Boqvist injury issue. |

That is not true. I've been complaining about him since the March 7th game against Tampa. Subban stole the Friday night game by standing on his head and was the first star of the game. The jubilation at the end of that game was incredible. This team was together and firing on all cylinders. Subban's miraculous game was rewarded by sitting on the damn bench the following game. Colliton broke the momentum and the confidence of not only the goalie but possibly the entire team by not rewarding Subban the Sunday game. The Hawks took a 3-0 lead on that Sunday afternoon game with Lankinen in goal and they lost 6-3.
This is an extremely young team and I just didn't agree with how he handled that situation. The Hawks then proceeded to go something like 1-7 in the next eight games.
I guess we'll never know if that really had any effect at all, but I do know that I was extremely disappointed in his goaltending choice for that game. They really haven't found their game since.
I am in the camp with many others that I don't want him here next year. There has to be a better coach for this team that can teach a defensive system that works.

Drag! Hope not. Too bad when the Hawks realized they weren't going to win they couldn't have broken a couple of the Bolts wrists or ankles.
Not really an advocate for that kind of play, but at this point might as well keep up with the Joneses. |
