If only we were lucky enough to have the best pure sniper in last year's draft fall to us...

I hope York is a stud for many reasons, one of which being I don't want to hear stories from Habs fans like I have to hear from Vikings fans. Ugh

Edit: not last year's draft, but you know what I mean

- daddytc

Give Reagor a couple more years. We did not get qb play anything like what Cousins gave Vikings last year, so it is unclear how Jefferson would have fared here.

What about this year's draft? 4-5 qbs will be gone, as will Chase and Pitts (Dallas better not trade up to get him). Most likely Sewell too. I assume Dull-ass takes Surtain.

That leaves:

Undersized Smith?
Injured has not played in a year Waddle?
Frequently flagged in press coverage Horn?
Redundant Slater?

Who do you take?

Since when does Howie take who every one thinks he will? Smartest guy in the room syndrome.

See, there was concern that Jefferson projected as a slot guy. He went for the kid with the higher ceiling. Can't blame him can you?

Other than Lawrence, two projected generational players. Kyle Pitts and Penei Swell. Swell is still a kid, and playing in the Pac 10, I dunno how much run blocking he has had to do.

Smith could fall. He is 6'0" 166 lbs according to a weigh-in in the last couple of days. Shades of Todd Pinkston? Butat 12, every pick is likely going to be a gamble.

Given that Stoutland crafts gold from late round coal, I would only pick OT if Swell is available, which he is not gojng to be. I would go with Waddle, but he is likely gone. We may end up with a DE.

Since reagor kinda blows, it would be good to get Smith as I think everyone has more faith in him than Reagor. Trade reagor for all I care. We need offensive weapons for our qbs. Our wr core has been utter trash for 2 years now because howie has (frank)ed up the last several drafts because he thinks he is smart. Just because he has drafted wr in the past drafts (JJAW REAGOR) and they stink, doesnt mean that we now arent allowed to draft the best receiver available anymore. All in all, Howie will do something brain meltingly stupid so what does it matter?

realistically there shouldn't be. They should be able to beat teams that are less talented than them each and every night
- corduroy

Absolutely. But time and time again in each of the last 3 or 4 seasons they lose more than they should to lesser opponents.

You give Reagor just 1 year with a disintegrating qb and a disintegrating OL? He was always projected as a little raw. Typical Philly fan, I see.

JJAW is a different story.

Re Smith, apparently no WR in history has gone in top half of first with those physical stats. Its hard to be an athlete and weigh 166 lbs and 6'0. He does not have De Sean speed. Slender frame means less ability to put on muscle. More propensity to get injured. How is he going to get off the line against physical corners?

I remember how Michael Irving used to terrorize us and then Bobby Taylor came along and would line up across him and he would largely shut him down because Irving would never get off the line of scrimmage free.

Having said that, I just looked it up and he did 30 reps of 225, which is ridiculously good.

Eagles are in need in so many spits on bith Offense and Defense that tgey need to take the "best player available". Reagor isn't Jefferson, but he doesn't suck. Whiteside is a 2nd round bust. If Surtain is available at12...take him. If not, either Waddle or Smith will probably will. The trade down was a risk. If they don't get one of those 3 there are other very good ones, but they should have stayed at 6 where they would have gotten a potentially great one.

I will humbly disagree with this, Dancer.

Lets say Hurts turns out to be very good (which I strongly doubt). Then we might have as many as 3 1st round picks in once-in-a-decade draft to get him weapons next year + huge cap space.

Now, lets say Hurts sucks. Then again, we should get our own high pick next year and possibly have 2 more to trade up and draft a top qb.

Considering your scouts all said Jefferson....yes I can hold GM accountable...I mean it’s only one year, but it’s a lopsided choice right now....I do wonder if the Coaches/Reagor pick had anything to do with at least in part to Pederson’s demise. Personally I was hoping Howie would have just stayed at 6 and hopefully got a franchise type prospect... I do like Waddle. I’m also hoping a guy like JJaw can emerge as something with some new coaching.
Either way I’ll be excited to watch this week.

Its a crap shoot either way...until you think about who is doing the drafting...Howie is...well, nuff said! I do like having draft capital tho.

Ha. Sure have. Hale isn’t great, but that’s a tough path to walk in to. Story is a stud too. If Anderson can simply get the opposing pitcher out however everything is mitigated. I get it. Fourth and fifth starters are that for a reason, but they aren’t even getting the standard 5 6 innings with 3 or 4 runs type starts out of Anderson or Moore.

In fact, I would go further and say leave the Phantom players a lone at this point. They have a good team and once the Flyers are done Allison can go back with them and make them even stronger. It will be good experience for them to learn how to win something, versus getting some games with the big club at this point.

I think many people who haven't played competitive sports under estimate how important this can be.

We’ve reached the point of the season where I’m actually pulling for you guys to eek out some wins to suppress the draft position.

Bruins/Pens. That game was big boy hockey.

Penguins in first place, and they are playing without Malkin. Luckily their window is closed.

Time to watch the JV game now.

Swayman is a stud. Good to see they have their Rask replacement already.
