Leafs play the Habs 4 more times. They could potentially prevent the Habs from making the playoffs. I don't think the Flames are consistent enough to take advantage. Habs might back in. - gergeswillems

I’ve yet to see a player I loved to watch as much as Sakic.
Even if it’s a bias opinion - maybe Bergeron - RickJames77
When you watched Gretzky live, your eyes followed him. You didn’t follow the puck.
I know this sounds like the bullpoop rantings of an old poop franker, but I swear it is true. |

They didn't outhit the Jets by any stretch but they stood their ground and played with attitude. Been awhile since we've seen Toronto play with that all-elusive GRIIIIIIIIIT.

That young punk. Back in my day, there was no puck. You just crashed the net, like men. I cheered for the Regina Pencil Necks. Lost every game. |

Back in my day you just slapped the goalie in the face with your Richard then asked him politely to let the puck cross the crease. If not he said no you’d start a proper fisticuff |

I’m sure it’s debatable if that was the best game the Leafs have played this season but it might be one of the most important ones. Coming off a win when often they play soft they were so the opposite of that tonight.
They out worked, out muscled and out played the Jets. They did what so many teams have done to them in the past - got under the oppositions skin. When was the last time a Leafs team did that? I felt like the Leafs did to the Jets what Boston has done to the Leafs in the playoffs.
They were better than the Jets in skill and team toughness and on the score board and between the pipes.
It may not have been their best game all year but it sure was the one I enjoyed watching the most.
I was texting my brother asking things like “are you seeing this?” “Is this for real?” “Are these the Leafs?”
If THIS is the Jumbo Joe and Wayne Train we can expect more often than not for playoffs, I can’t wait!

I thought the Savardian Spin O Rama was a Bob Cole phrase? I know it was a Hockey Night in Canada commonly heard phrase.
:-)
Edit - googled it - Danny Gallivan actually coined the phrase. |

The Jets goal was too legit to quit.
Unfortunate that it came in the first minute, but I am happy the boyz were able to shrug it off. |

Unless it’s Ken Dryden who will just start talking non stop in the most earnest voice about everything from youth unemployment to the history of the great old game and he just won’t stop and you want to kill yourself but he starts another anecdote and you feel you have to pay attention because it’s Ken (frank)ing Dryden but your eyes are getting heavy and suddenly your whole team falls into a coma, they get the puck and score and he wins the Conn Smythe |

I actually think that’s another big part of what makes this game such a good one. They gave up the terrible “first minute of the game” goal and it was like they just ignored it entirely and said “whatever let’s play OUR game now boys”.

Yup. I grew up in Ottawa, pre Sens and we got Habs games. Gallivan was great, with Richard Irving or Irvin. Best broadcast crew. Howie Meeker between periods. |

I knew The Who it was for, just screwed up The “who coined it” part.
I’m sure there are people who think it was all about the “Chicago Savard” :-).
