Maybe I'm wrong, but wouldn't that mean blowing a year of his ELC for about 2 games by the time he's cleared to join the team?

good to see you back jan - thought the same thing (like most prob did) that it seems like that game 1 against the canes all over again. no physical answer and certainly no answer on the scoreboard.

JD said it last year and did nothing about it - i'm sure he'll say it again. this team needs to be tougher to play against.

i know we all wanna see jones and tuarmo in, but i'd bring up geertsen at some point here. there's just no physical presence w/ this team. im not expecting k'andre to be throwing the body around in his rookie year

- NYRangers1124

JD made sure something was done about it...See Schneider and Cuylle. The thing is, his timeline in big picture and rushing those guys or adding pieces that don't quite fit locker room wise or contract wise doesn't mean it was not addressed and thought of.

the Rangers need to get bigger and heavier and tougher to play against

and that doesn't mean adding 4th line guys just to respond if something like that happens to Trouba

Rangers definitely need their own Tom Wilson

Exactly, I think the endgame view may not come to fruition until those bigger guys are NHL ready.

So, what I'm getting out of this is that we should sneak away with a somewhat unorthodox Cup victory while we wait to become a truly complete Cup champion that is an all around nightmare to play against!

This offseason we need to make a point to get guys that fit a more traditional 4th line role. 2 guys that are UFA that stand out are Foligno and Goodrow. I don’t see many young guys were blocking anymore on the offensive side of things. The top 9 is pretty much locked, add some skilled guys that can play that type of energy/physical game and we’ll be a much better team. Hell, I’d even resign Smith if he’s willing to go back to forward and if there’s ever an injury mid game on D he’d already be in the lineup.

I wouldnt mind bringing in the SC Tampa 4th line of Goodrow and Pacquette, put them with Blackwell or Rooney… whoever survives the expansion draft.

Thats a shame for him to be so big and not have a thirst for plastering guys.

I didn't see whether you responded to me on this topic last blog. But, what do you figure they could pay Foligno, who currently makes $5.5M to make him want to play 12 minutes a night on our 4th line?

He’s 33 and his numbers have declined every year for the past 3 or so years. 33 35 and 31 points the last 3 years, on pace for about the same this year. I’d give him a 2 year deal for 3 million per. He could slot up in case of an i jets but I think he’d be a great veteran presence for these young guys and bring an element we’re lacking big time.

Didn't realize he was that old! I must have slid passed that when I checked his salary.
That makes it more of a possibility, but I still think it's somewhat of a longshot.
There's merit to the idea, though!
