Marwood 1 Ruby 0

(not a shot at you Ruby, it was just funny that Marwood got one on you)

Holy shit, did you put that one in your notebook or did you hunt high and low for that quote from several months ago?

I think I might start calling you Booner junior.

Nobody is signing a team friendly deal. The last player who left money on the table was Hamhuis...

Hughes and Pettersson might not have “proved” anything yet, but the have each done something that VERY few players have done to start their careers. Signing them long term is a good gamble.

I am not a big fan of either player, although they are talented, they are extremely easy to knock off the puck and have several other issues that I can't see them being able to overcome.
I disagree with the whole concept of paying for what someone might become, just because they are young.
That sounds a lot like entitlement, that this society has become.
Also, using that philosophy, Jake should have got 4 million, because he might become a 30 goal power forward.

Makita made an online notebook for me and you all went and made predictions in it. I was just cruising through on my way to my 2021 draft thread.

It was about 12 seconds to come upon it accidentally. High and low

So, just veterns signs at these team friendly deals, but these guys who have proved jackshit sign for 7 + million?

Wow.

- Reubenkincade

Both point per game in the playoffs through 2 legit series and the wild one.... haven't proved jack poop?! Both have been the most productive players in ther draft class. All-stars. I'm just a bit confused how they haven't proven anything. 6 for hughes and 7 for petey, if you can get them at around that number for long term were laughing.

That’s not true, Jake hasn’t done anything to suggest he will ever score at that rate.

The point is risk reward. If you push the contract down the line you risk an even bigger number. Look at how badly Bergavin handled PK. It’s true, both or one may not actually live up to the potential, but those are the risks you take.

As far as them being small, or weak. Whatever. If all the guys who were brought in to provide support and leadership etc could actually do their job you would never notice. The supporting cast is such trash nobody could overcome that.

All Canucks players should take team friendly deals that prove to be bargains after year 1 of a long term deal that leaves millions of dollars on the table so there will never be any cap troubles ever again.

Do you understand?

Habs win tonight gives them 49 pts.

Games Remaining: 12 total (24 pts possible)

Flames x 3
Leafs x 4
Sens x 2
Oil x 2
Jets x 1

My guess 6-3-3 for 15 pts. Gives them a total of 64 (my pre-season guess was 65 to make the playoffs)

This means the Canucks need 26 pts in 17 games. 12-3-2 the rest of the way. Any more than 4 regulation losses and they’re done.

- 1970vintage

Seems like a high estimate given they are currently missing Price and Gallagher.

That's .625 for the rest of the season. They are currently .557

Eliminating all the games they have played against the Canucks this season 6-0-3

35 games played only 34 points accumulated vs the rest of the division so far for .485

Edit: He is right, 4 regulation losses and they are probably finished.

Yeah but look who their games are against. Leafs just got pummeled by Covidnucks, Flames... couple against the Sens. Ok, Oilers x 2 (who they just beat) and Jets x 1.

I don’t doubt that some of those 6 wins might also be 3 pt games.

I wonder how that race would be shaping up if the Canucks could have won a (frank)ing game against them

2-4 vs flames
2-3-1 vs Leafs
3-2-3 vs Sens
5-2 vs Oilers
2-3-3 vs Jets
6-0-3 vs Nucks Probably why the Canucks don't make the playoffs right there.

Yup.

I just think the Oilers/Leafs are set enough that they can afford to win one lose one against the Habs and not worry about making it.

Edit, but the Canucks VS Ottawa is the same thing.

Say Mtl walks away .500 12 points. That puts them at 61.

Canucks need 62 to get in then. 23 out of 34 points .676 Most likely unreasonable for how the team has played throughout the year.

Flames are toast but those games to close the season could actually be “meaningful”

Take it 1 game at a time for now. Outside of a top 10 pick but not making the playoffs would be disappointing.

I don't think they would land someone who would move the needle too much.

Imagine the haul they'd get for Demko and Petey? Cut those turds loose, they've been holding the team back!
