My god you guys, this is crazy talk. EP is an important part of any roster. He doesn’t have to be the cornerstone but his skill set is so valuable to a well balanced roster. The thought of letting him go because of a $7M contract is nuts. Even at that cost he’s affordable if our GM stops giving money away to useless veteran dead weight.

One of the most frustrating things to watch with this system. Barely ahead of watching the other team be given the blue line to carry the puck in, and just ahead of turning back instead of breaking out to cycle the puck in their own end before losing it/giving up a scoring chance.

Overrated as what?

He’s a sniper. That’s what he is. A premium is paid on goal scorers because that’s how you win games. The more snipers you have on your roster the better chance you have of winning.

You just need a GM who can construct a roster that utilizes snipers effectively and a coach who can develop a system that takes advantage of that type of skill set.

We have 1/3 of that potent mix.

Player's that have grown their games under him have been older guys like Miller, Pearson. That's really it.

Young talented prospect tend to come in and be what they are. Not many players that have come in and been better than they were on the last clubs or many young players that have grown up through the ranks and improved once they have hit the NHL.
