Except you get on a waiting list, but you don't actually book an appointment until you get that magic email.

I'm still on the Costco and Shopper's Drug Mart lists, but as long as I don't make an actual appointment, I'm not jamming anyone up.

- Atomic Wedgie

so if a magic email goes out...how long do they wait for the person to book the appointment?

there has to be a grace period where they hold something for you...before they move on, no?

Chabot already said he'd have to really think about it.

Which was a nice way to say (frank) off.

- Scabeh

Normally, I'd be all over the World Championships.

From what I understand, Hockey Canada really goes out of their way to make it a good experience. The whole family comes, they arrange activities.

FREE EUROPEAN VACATION!!!!

I wonder if anything is actually open in Latvia right now.

I tried that line (because I know it to be true and so does my wife) but she has gone too far down the social media, MSM rabbit hole on AZ being dangerous / bad or not as good as the other vaccines.

She is coming around a bit to understanding get what your given is better than waiting - I think her 78 year old diabetic father with COPD who lives alone and had a triple bypass in December who we have to go see every other week for a few days is also influencing the 'get what you can now' mentality in a good way.

- Cush29

I haven’t seen the MSM report that AZ was dangerous. They reported, correctly, that it had been paused while being reviewed. Every report I saw explained the review and the numbers. People just took what they wanted from that information and decided to set their hair in fire.

Rasmus Sandin looked really good.

He will only get more cup to speed Could be a perfect 3rd pairing D. Dermott may be watching from the sidelines.

I got to check of a box and I haven't gotten a call.
- bobbyisno1

Interesting.

I too got to check off "A box" but it was not the same one my friend did. I am going to assume that some boxes being checked out route the requests differently than others but who really knows.

This is so decentralized that it's nearly impossible to know how it actually all works.

So apparently the men's World Championships are still going to be played in Latvia, starting May 21st.

16 different countries participating.

Why the frank would any player agree to join Team Canada?

- Atomic Wedgie

Well the surefire NHLers probably wont...but players trying to make a name for themselves? Of course.

Some decent Canadians are already playing overseas right now.

This is Toronto and different from any regional process? Is there a regional sign up?

My experience was similar to yours.

Felt fine going to bed but tossed and turned through the night. Felt like a bag of hammers in the morning. Was drained with no energy.

Having said that I'd do it again even knowing the results.

- Nasty_Duck

Oh yeah, the tossing and turning that night was bad.

I just kept telling myself it meant that it was working, but yeah bag of crap for a day.

No, I'm not in Toronto, I'm north of the city. I can't speak to what other regional processes are but with Costco, Shoppers etc. I seem to think the process would be the same because they ask you to put in a postal code at some point. I have signed up with individual pharmacies near me and the questions where you check off a box in some cases were mandatory, others optional. Just to make the water more muddy.....

Edit - when you sign up with Shoppers to go on the wait list they say it's for anywhere they do the vaccinations near you which includes Zehrs and Loblaws as they are all owned by the one parent company.

Now before the pharmacies were taking bookings from 40+ I am fairly sure you could go through the Provincial Govt website and select if you were one of the groups who they were doing vaccinations for. I'm not sure where you went from there because I wasn't in any group that was eligible.

Sandin made some great passes the other night. Sees the ice a lot better than most D men. Hope he's here to stay this time.

Yeah its important to see what we have for next season as well...Fingers crossed he is not another Dermott who never gets better.

But I see improvements from last game and the guy has barely played the last year

wife and I got on a waiting list, I had a doc app yesterday, so she stopped in to ask some general questions..the lady was rude and basically said..yeah we will get to you at some point.

I am skeptical

Wow. I had opposite reaction. Person on the phone was very nice and helpful.

I know you didn't say sweet nothings but I had to make it sound better.

This chart stresses me out, I need a drag.

Also funny enough stress is probably way ahead of all these for blood clots.

I tried calling 2 different Shoppers Drug Marts today, nobody will answer the phone and if they do as soon as you say why your calling they say "ok I'll transfer you and then you get no answer and eventually a voicemail box which says they are not taking messages related to booking vaccinations to go online".

I can't say I blame them and I definitely feel bad for staff working at any pharmacy who is doing vaccination right now being bombarded with calls and people walking in to ask about getting on a list.

I registered online on Monday and Tuesday to be on multiple wait lists (like 8 now) for pharmacies within 30 minutes of me.

I have a friend who did the same except he got to check off a box I did not because he is Metis. He registered yesterday at 2pm. Got an email to book an appointment at 6pm and went online and booked for a shot last night at 740pm (he didn't notice the email until then) for today at 1230pm. He said there were available spots at 1030, 11, 1, 3, 4, and 5pm when he picked the one on his lunch hour.

This upsets me a bit, not that he got in first but that there are clearly that many open spots & doses that aren't being used, makes zero sense.

He is going to ask when he goes if there are any spots open this aft and if so if we can walk in and get jabbed. I mean if they had early am appointments that went unfilled I would assume they have vaccines to go with those appointments on hand
so I don't see why they wouldn't allow us to walk in - but the fact we are not indigenous may prevent it.

I'm not sure if this clinic was only set up for indigenous people who wanted the vaccine or not but even if so if the vaccine is there and not being used why shouldn't they use it?

We will see, the fact you have to be a super sleuth or maybe have an inside track to get vaccinated annoys me beyond belief. I'm the 'get in line and wait my turn' guy and don't look to shortcut things because I view that as a-hole behaviour in general but in this case, I'm happy to be an A-hole.

Getting a vaccination shouldn't be like a scavenger hunt for Christ sakes, I'm not getting into whose fault it is (because I blame both levels of government) but (frank) it's annoying and upsetting.

End rant.

Go Leafs Go

I have heard of people getting the email and still not being able to get an appointment.

I guess the good news is it means the uptake is improving, not that that is much consolation.

So question for you fellas and ladies who already have paid sick days:

What's the most you've ever taken?

I don't think I've ever taken more than two in a year.

And on the one hand, I don't think I'll be as macho-dude anymore and go in even when I'm feeling like poop, but I also think there will be more days where I say I'm feeling under the weather but can still work, so I'll just work from home.

Take them Wedgie, mental health days are good for you. The company doesn’t give 2 (frank)s about you after you quit/retire/TERMINATED.

🤷🏻‍♂️

My wife is a teacher and in their contract they were allowed to save up to 200 sick days and get paid out at retirement....government ripped up that contract and didn’t pay anyone with less then 10 years...my wife had 9 at the time.

I was awarded 10 a year for about a decade.

On average I used about 5-6, which included a mental health day here and there. There was a year I was in the hospital for 4 days, I used 8 that year which was the most I ever took.

Before I lucked out and found a dose at Walmart, I was on 5 waiting lists.

It was almost 2 weeks until I started to get emails.
