Doug is a big idiot.

Not a fan of Trudeau, but at least he's trying.

I actually voted for Doug, that turned out to be a mistake ffs.

- Oilers4Life14

You could interchange Doug's and Trudeau's name above and your statement would still be true.

There have been massive (frank) ups both Federally and Provincially for the last year.

Agreed.

EVERY health expert in Ontario (except his idiot Chief Medical Officer of Health) has stated that Ford has approached everything backward.

- Nasty_Duck

He's stupid, he sits back and takes the advice of his cabinet ministers and said chief medical officer, which makes them pretty stupid too.
I'd wager he hasn't had a single idea on his own.

the feds weren't great in procuring enough vaccine but they're also not responsible for distributing healthcare to individuals
- TheMussel

If you go by single doses which is the strategy we adopted, Canada is ahead of every country in Europe except the UK and Hungary. That’s as a % of population. Overall, we’re about 17th and 7 of the countries ahead of us have a population of less than one million.

Trudeau, the only thing I remember from that guy is him standing on his front lawn saying his wife tested positive and that's she's okay just a headache.
He's a bigger moron than Ford every will be.

You are beyond stupid on this issue Senstroll; sorry.

Try some critical thought that does not automatically assume this is Ford/PC Party fault.

- Aetherial

Ford was very good at the beginning, I was surprised at how quickly and forcefully he moved to shut things down when they needed to be shut down.

In the last 6-8 weeks however he has been a complete failure. Sorry but he has been slow to react, he has not moved forcefully enough and has flip flopped from one day to the next.

He's a dumbass and maybe he tried to reopen some stuff a bit prematurely but he's not significantly better or worse than other idiot premiers at this point.
- TheMussel

I think they truly lost the public when many politicians were caught traveling for leisure and everyone else was hunkering down. They showed that the view point of politicians being out of touch with their people to be true.
I truly disliked the bullpoop excuses and the fact that Ford said "everyone has to return" he didn't say, and I think he should have said "You got 24 hours to get here."

I REALLY hated the politician who said he was in California to sell a property trying to say it had to be done in person. First of all, (frank) you for making it seem like your plight to earn a bunch of money is somehow a bigger concern than the health of your voters and (frank) you again for thinking people are dumb enough that people can't buy or sell property remotely.

I think they lost more public when they recently closed things for the sake of "showing a stern and harsh restriction." Like closing golf or parks does nothing to stop the spread really. It's ridiculous stuff and people saw through that BS.

You know why you have to book every drugstore in a 200Km radius?

because there are not enough vaccines. Whose fault is that.

The feds not only failed to procure enough, they also failed to see that they were distributed to the provinces with the worst outbreaks.

Here is a question for you... why isn't there a federal registration system?

- Aetherial

Because setting priorities for vaccine distribution is a provincial responsibility

That is my issue. They shut down golf but yet it was open all last summer. It didn't increase transmissions.

So, like i said, they had 2 jobs.

Print CERB cheques
Sign contracts with no specifics, just sign lots of them, except of course, with the U.S, where they now have excess, but we don't have agreements with them.

Literally everything else is up to the provinces. Deal with distribution and healthcare, which is about 100 times more complex and confusing than what the feds have been required to do.

How.

Please list what the Feds have been responsible for, and what Doug has been responsible/blamed for.

Let's see how those lists stack up.

Okay so you can golf with three people from different households but you can't have three neighbors over in your yard, yep, makes sense.
Or you can golf outdoors with three people from other households but your family of four can't sit on my patio.

Which was exactly my point.

What are the feds actually doing? It is very easy for every non-conservative voter to just blame Ford (or any other provincial premiere).

Yeah, and while we are at it, let's compare the scale and complexity of Nova Scotia to Ontario and then blame Ford.

I don’t know. I thought they were going to set up a provincial registry months before vaccines arrived so that everyone would know where they stood, etc. That would have been nice.

Instead, they pushed everything out to regional health authorities because I don’t think the province has any local health delivery network anymore. This seems to have worked well in some places but it’s probably much easier everywhere except Toronto.

I also think we put way too much emphasis on vaccines as a short term solution to the problem we’re facing right now. We mix up vaccines for us individually and vaccines as a public health solution. Stopping this spread is going to take the old way of distancing, etc until enough vaccines get here in enough arms

The nature of the distribution method, volume and storage capability differs widely across the province. Could they have had a better system, yeah sure. They also had no idea what or when they would receive vaccines.

So it is OK for the Fed's to off load responsibility for everything to the province, health care, distribution, sick day pay, dealing with shifting hotspots, but it is not OK for the Province to try to involve the health units?

When it comes to the pandemic, the feds have responsibility for approving and securing vaccines (we have different views on how awfully they performed on that), on recommending priorities for vaccine distribution and for distributing to the provinces. I think that’s it.

Provinces have jurisdiction over everything else.

That makes soon much sense since virus respects provincial borders.....
