Anyone else read the Kraken expansion blog collaboration with RW regarding the Pens?
I think Tanev would be taken regardless of contract in that scenario. - MattStrat
Taking Tanev over Blueger would be quite the decision. Tanev’s term doesn’t matter for us because Sid and Geno will retire soon and then who cares, but it does matter for Seattle. |

Meh, Tanev's deal isn't that bad. I think if he is exposed he is an obvious choice for Seattle. Instant fan favorite, coach favorite, would probably get an A on his jersey.
But I would not expose Teddy. He is the ultimate bottom 6 center. 19 points in 33 games despite taking 76% of the D zone faceoffs is impressive. |

Yeah I agree but Tanev is one of those players GM's seem to want. Speed, tenacity, heart and comes to battle hard every game. I dont think JR was bidding against himself on that Tanev contract, I think there were a few teams wanting him and JR gave him what he wanted, a raise and years of security on a good team. None of that is to say I agreed with his contract at the time or now but I'm still glad he's a Penguin.
Bluey still seems to be bit under the radar around the league...hopefully it stays that way.... |

I'm all for a Pens/Caps series. That is easily my favorite Pens playoff matchup to watch. |

I want a pens vs isles to hopefully pay them back. Plus I still hate them because of Trevor gillies. Also a bruins caps 1st round would be something to watch!
Those next 3 games for caps/isles will be telling of how the season could end. Hopefully no loser points. |

Regular old bottom 6 role players usually stop being good around age 30. Obviously plenty of exceptions to that, but there’s a solid chance there’s gonna be 2-3 years where Tanev is making $3.5 against the cap and just sucks. An expansion team should not be looking to add that kind of contract.
For context, Tanev already has to be working on a super inflated shooting percentage to be worth his $3.5 mil. |

I love that too, but we usually see them in the 2nd round... and we usually win... Let's hope for both. Let them take the abuse from Boston and we will take on the leftovers... |

I wanna see Bruins/Caps as well first round. Marchand would probably make Wilson do something stupid haha. I wanna see it. So I'm rooting for the Caps to sweep the Islanders here. |

Kap is a GTD and Tanev is skating.
Jarry is starting which surprises me. |

A nice breakdown of the last games from the top 4 in the East
I stand by my prediction - Beatnic57
I agree on Boston finishing first, but I'm sticking with my original: Bruins, Caps, Pens, Isles, but the Pens could also finish 2nd and caps 3rd. Regardless I think Bruins take first and the Isles slide to 4th.

Yeah, I don't know if that means he's ahead of schedule or not since his injury is an upper body, but it's great that he can keep up his conditioning.

I brought this up earlier and probably not the popular opinion, but when/if everyone is fully healthy this is what I'd like to see as far as the lines...

I’m hoping for a Boston Washington 1st round so I want the isles to win all 3. Boston going to the top. |

It would def be worth trying. It keeps the top 12 on the ice. It would be hard to move blueger from centre he is really killing it. his hockey iq seems to be really high so he could hopefully excel on that 2nd line. I’d like to try it next year after his extension haha |

If he works at LW and Freddy can keep that 4th line strong then the Pens are in a very good financial position without having to add much of anything. They can move Zucker out and try to pick up a 3rd line RW upgrade.

Big 3 games for Caps and Ises... it should make the puck6ure alot clearer.
But Washington has 2 games against the Rags (2-4 against) and 2 against the Pens (2-1-3 against) and one more against Boston... they have a very tough road ahead

Tanev's rate of production continues to climb every season. He isn't a regular old bottom 6 role player. Also, Seattle is selling something not just building something. Tanev plays the type of hockey that even the newest fan would get excited over. It's not just production and value, it's marketing. A new team would benefit from a guy like him.

Did anyone else catch when Jay Caulfield almost said Pens have it in the bag, but stopped and said Have it under control? |
