I actually see him being a Schmaltz kind of forward, hopefully he has the courage to battle along the boards unlike Nick.
- BetweenTheDots

I haven’t seen him or Strome battle. Both have some unteachable skill but both haven’t shown they are competitive. Maybe they can be sent to the Mayo Clinic for a couple of heart transplants a la Orville Tessier?

Unfortunately the whole premise of science isn’t to prove itself right but to prove itself wrong. There hasn’t been enough study into the virus to determine all its effects let alone if the vaccine would prevent transmission. My guess is the scientists haven’t done sufficient studies and simply don’t know. The good thing for government and businesses is they can throw the scientists Under the bus and pass off all responsibility to them.

Isn't it the scientists who told us that the vaccine will be 90%+ successful at preventing infection? And near 100% effective at preventing serious disease?

To me, science doesn't say something is so without having some evidence that it is so. The opposite has occurred in the past year.

Well, to be fair to the league.....The Man said for months life would return to normal once the vaccine arrived. Now The Man says, "not so fast Kawalski", you still need to mask up, social distance, etc.... So, maybe the league was just going by what they heard from The Man?

Nice slight of hand political commentary! I thought we were keeping political commentary off the board? We were told COVID was going to be gone last summer too......

Reducing it from 7 games to 5 games is about mitigating risk. If you don't think that reduces the risk that's cool but it actually does. Just like going to a store 1 time per week versus 4 times reduces the risk. Just like wearing a mask reduces the risk.

Regardless, being able to enjoy pro sports is a luxury. At the end of the day its people getting paid a lot of money to play a game. There are far worse things in this world than having less hockey games to watch.

If you don't like the "political" posts, why did you respond to it and extend the conversation?

After testing the scientists said some vaccines were 90% effective and some less so. But they also suggested that the variants could change that. As for the vaccine preventing the transmission of the virus I haven’t heard any scientist claim that. I did however read an interview with Derrick Rosi, the co-founder of Moderna, state that there have been insufficient studies to prove the vaccine would or would not prevent transmission.

On the 1st bolded, I responded to a post about Lehner being mad at the league for what he perceived as the NHL lying to the players. I responded by saying the league was just relying on what the scientists told them.

On the 2nd, can you provide a link? Perhaps the NHL should shorten the upcoming playoff series to best of five? Or would best of three would be safer?

You really struggle with letting go, don't you, whatever just keep repeating it if it makes you happy, it's really all you do with almost everything here,

Btw i thought you said you were done with this site when Sage called you out? Hate it when someone can't keep their word

Unless they are able to travel into the future, they won't know. We're about a year into this thing and they can guess at how effective vaccines will be for how long; but without the benefit of time it's mostly educated guessing at this point.

You need time and more studies to actually know.

Let's just hope that in that time the vaccines don't make things worse that the original outbreak. Bottom line - any one of us can die in the next minutes from a heart attack or stroke (or a stray bullet), so why was there a big panic for Covid?

That in a nutshell is certainly the problem with science. Unfortunately politics both left and right added a spin to cloud the issue.

That’s great! 35 million people are test cases because you need time and studies to actually know how affective the vaccination is going to be. That is scary indeed for all man kind! Let’s move on with hockey. The Hawks better win tonight or they will become high draft pick contender...which most of us thought anyway before the start of the season.

Sure. Guy has battled metal issues most of his adult life to become a starting goalie in the NHL. Has advocated for and researched mental health care to help people. Yeah, (frank) that guy.

What exactly is the negative here?

Since you rebutted....

Obviously they've done some studies but these were fast tracked given the circumstances.

My comment centered around how long the vaccines would be effective for which is just like any other vaccine. They didn't know Hepatitis A and B vaccines would confer lifelong immunity until they looked at patients from the original studies who were 10 and then 20 years out...and in fact they still don't really know since many from the studies are still alive.

Even then they only knew the vaccines would be effective for 10 and 20 years but have figured since they were still pulling protective titers at that point in time, it was likely to provide lifetime immunity. There's a longer explanation but I won't go there.

Afa hockey, glad Hagel and some of the kids are back in the lineup. If the Hawks win great. If they lose and improve their draft status...also great!

Or not. Looks like Colliton is going with 7D anticipating another injury.

Whoa, a surprise: Dylan Strome is the Blackhawks' scratch tonight.

Zadorov is in the lineup after all. Hawks going 11F/7D.
