Don't be. Life happens outside the thread, and hockey. Puts our female doging about the Habs into perspective. It's a game... Yeah, we love it and enjoy it, but it's not life altering. We may bicker with each other at times, but like kick says, "We're all great friends on the internet. ™" We're here for you, brother. - Darksyde
i don't know what a VCA is and it seemed really rude to stop the conversation to ask.
but it's true that we're all great friends on the internet and sometimes serious stuff happens and it is nice to see that we can stop all the usual bickering and support each other when someone needs it.

1.83 million cap hit for 4 seasons to buy out Drouin after this year... is it worth it? |

Well if Bergevin did that, Arpon Basu would immediately ask him why he didn't trade him for a first round pick instead?

depends. let's say we miss the playoffs, Molson cleans house and someone comes in and finally, mercifully blows this team up as much as possible... id keep Drouin around and see if he can't turn it around.
but if they're going to keep the same approach that scraping into the playoffs is the organization's ultimate goal, and that 1.83 million in space allows you to do something you wouldn't otherwise be able to do, sure. |

No way, that's a big no for me on "seeing if he can turn it around"! The guy is spineless, there's no coming back from that... he's the first change I look to make in the offseason, regardless of if they miss the playoffs or win the Stanley Cup... |

right but in a rebuild scenario, you have nothing to lose by hanging on to him.

Leafs are still retaining cap on Kessel even now. The buyout wouldn't be worth it. Unless he's a serious issue behind the scenes. |

judging from the comments here he's worse than covid and will only infect the rest of the team |

Buying him out would be an emotional reaction that stands in the face of reason. There's a spot for him in the NHL, if not at his full salary at some point of retention to get a return, in which case the hit is only two years and even at 50% is only $2.75, with an asset return. People always say don't turn so and so into a whipping boy and then things go south and so and so becomes a whipping boy. Emotional decisions lead to ruin, rational thought should always rule the day. (Science has proven the average person makes 98% of their decisions based on emotions rather than rational thoughts - don't be like these people) |

apparently it started on the highway and then the kook followed the person they were shooting at into the wawa parking lot and shot up their car and then shot another dude and a truck driver who was pumping gas. then he ran away and shot himself like the (frank)ing coward that he most likely was. |

damn, that's quite a statistic. I hope the guy doing the research wasn't completely driven by his emotions... |

The lesson here is go to the police station, not wawa. Wawa will be there after, of this I am almost certain |

If you think about it and extrapolate it honestly you'll probably find it makes sense, regardless of the percentage on it. I just vividly remember that stat from a few different sales and marketing books |

I wouldn't buy him out.
Drouin, when playing his best, can help this team.
But history seems to show us that when the guy starts playing terribly.
There's no bottom at the end of that barrell. He's hurting the team right now, killing offensive plays, lapses defensively and no intensity whatsoever.
Let him sit, do some video, heal injuries, whatever.
He can't continue down this path and neither can we.
