Despite my not really thinking it would matter, I agree with you on Subban. Guy posts a shut out, ride him a bit to see if he stays hot. It's not like Lankinen is Roy back there. - Chunk
Five GA tonite - four dots-in wide-open right in front - three at the net.
Lankinen is the goalie of the future. He has work to do - rebound control, glove side needs improvement - but his positioning is usually very good, doesn’t lose his net much.
Not a good night for him tonite, but I’m OK with him starting. |

Totally agree. But for a 400K head coach and the worst staff in the NHL, what more should we expect ?

& the poor timing just makes the trades that much worse. - I Am The Breadman
I didn’t think I needed to state the obvious.
The Hawks teased fans at the beginning of the season with stellar goaltending and an insanely good PP. Even if the Hawks finished 5th in the Central (even though 6th is more likely) that’s a successful season. Anything but the bottom of the division is a bonus.
Also, Subban is the new #1. You heard it here first. |

In the wild card conversation exceeds everyone's expectations. That's a plus. Still going to get a decent draft pick. Also a plus. I'm fine watching the young players develop.
Will be an interesting goalie battle as the season winds down. |

Eddie saying plenty of time left, hahaha, Murphy might have lost his lid, there's no clear possession and Hino is flying the zone, wtf
It seems every game someone is standing in front of our goalie uncovered - BetweenTheDots
He still gives it up at the blue line as well, there’s a reason that he has been traded three times, I hope Stan doesn’t resign him, fools gold. |

So were you ok with Subban sitting on that Sunday game against Tampa when he single-handedly won the Friday game ? Even Foley stated that Subban should have been the first, second, and third star of that game. Tampa should have scored 10 goals with all their prime scoring chances. Hey.... I really like Lankinen and the year he has had, but when a goalie stands on his head and plays a fabulous game, He deserves the right to start the next game. JMO. It's called coaching... and sticking with a hot goaltender.

Absolutely not.... They have overachieved because of goaltending and surprising rookie seasons by several players. Now let's get a coach that can take this team to the next level.

Yeah, considering that this is still - and always has been - a development year, I’m ok with Lankinen getting the starts, and the starts in big games.
There is nothing he’s done that says he won’t be the goalie for this team going forward. Subban had a good game against Detroit - but in the 5 games before that, he gave up 5+3+6+4+3=21=4.2 per game. |

I think this season shows just how much the Hawks miss having a true #1 center. There is very little control going through the NZ, no one sits near or in the slot in the O-zone, and there is no one really controlling the play.
The funny thing was that this game was not lost because Nash was that much better than CHI. The Hawks made three absolutely god awful mistakes that ended up in the back of the net. Big Z going for the hit instead of actually covering his man, Keith with the total poope pass at the blueline and de Haan being de Haan in his own zone throwing the puck away.
The scary part is that it is the vets that are crapping the bed.

Tortarella will probably be available, Babcock is coaching Canadian college hockey, Hitchcock is playing golf in Palm Springs, Vignault, Yeo and Therrien will probably all be available after the dumpster the Flyers were this year, Julien is available. Which one should Stan hire?

This team has done pretty well this year with JC at the helm, better days are ahead. Hopefully we see either Boqvist, Beaudin, or Mitchell in on Wednesday, these are their playoff games, let them get a taste. |

Well another loss to the Preds.
Preds have to be one of the best teams on capitalizing on mistakes. Bad pass by Keith, boom it's in. Zadorov loses his man, boom its in. Murphy loses his helmet goes off, boom it's in. Keith trips, boom it's in. Gotta give them credit. Soros with some great saves too. Suter took a stupid penalty when the Hawks were buzzing which killed any hope of coming back.
Not a fan of Zadorov or Dehaan, both play sloppy. Would rather have Beaudin and Mitchell in. If Zadorov doesn't play physical, he's not worth dressing. He loses the puck too much, is too slow and makes bad offensive choices. Stillman for now adds the physical presence we need.

Brindamour is in the last year of his contract. However didn't Colliton sign an extension before the season. Stan will stick with him until it's time for the Hawks to be a true contender. Remember Savard and Q?
