Hains: Time Cannot be Stopped

Everyone ages, it’s a fact of life, but for some, the aging process happens under a huge spotlight, this is what the Canadiens’ captain Shea Weber is going through right now…

gotta find some way to laugh about it a little I guess, otherwise it's frickin' depressing...

I wonder if Bergevin was counting on Weber to do the same thing as Chara and play until he's 45, so far let's just say it doesn't look so good for that to happen. anyways I hope they figure things out soon...

Dunno if he was but it’s highly unlikely...knowing Weber though, I bet he won’t want to hang them up not to put the Preds in trouble, this is the franchise that drafted him and it was good to him. I think if we keep him, we’ll be stuck for a while.

How did you like your first year of fantasy hockey btw?

This has probably been discussed at length in the last few blogs, but I don't get why they called up Caufield.

Aside from selling jerseys...I think he'd be better practicing and playing with the Rocket this week than eating popcorn and playing with his cellphone on the pressbox during games. I don't see what purpose it serves.

Well he's practicing with NHL players.

Who, in theory, are better than the guys in the AHL. So it's a good experience for him.

I must say though, I'm surprised they intend to make him miss actual playing time in the AHL if he can't slot in the lineup.

He wouldn't be the first hockey player to end his contract on LTIR instead of retiring immediately.

I'd rather have him practice under Bouchard, than with disgruntled NHL players who see him as a threat and a head coach who is in over his head, and that will have zero time for player development

It was an enjoyable procrastination during the pandemic for sure. Thanks for organizing all this karine. Though, why are we now in playoffs mode in the pool? Alot of my good players missed games due to covid and now those games just dissapear? Kind of diffucult to make the most of it if they make the rules during the game, no?

Did you fare well in your pools involving money?

i assume that with the Rocket barely playing right now, they're keeping him up in case someone goes down long term on the trip?

Now now.

I'm sure the guys are welcoming him with open arms and Ducharme isn't in over his head. He's just doing what he can with the cards he has.

I have not lost faith in Ducharme. Guy is a good coach with a proven track record that shouldn't be dismissed after 20ish games in the NHL.

But it's about time Evans comes back and Staal takes time to.... I don't know die of old age?

i don't think that's going to factor in to be honest. he'll play until he decides he's done and if the Preds get get caught, they get caught. no one forced them to match a contract that so clearly violated the spirit of the cap. it's not Shea Weber's responsibility to make sure they maintain a healthy cap situation.

i agree it's early to judge Ducharme but it's unquestionable that this team has gotten progressively worse since he took over. maybe it was an impossible task for him given the particulars of this season, but the regularity with which they're getting stomped is really alarming.

as for Staal ya... i would park him. right now this team doesn't have the footspeed to keep up with the NHL pace. they need to find a way to become quicker.
