I also think there’s something to be said about rivalries within divisions, especially those that have not been changed by COVID’s shuffling of the divisions. Montreal/Ottawa/Toronto are all very used to playing each other so it tends to balance it out a bit. See the same thing in football all the time (I’ve made a killing taking the points on wide spreads on divisional matchups).

Nobody likes the Senators. Not even their owner.
- Aaron_85

Especially, their owner.

At least Harold Ballard actually loved the Leafs.

I enjoy callers into TSN. Everyone loves saying the leafs can't compete with Washington and Boston after their competitive afternoon game yesterday.

Except, Boston doesn't have a great goalie. They did improve with Hall but the leafs have the same or even better forwards.

They then also say only the leafs are racking up points against teams like the Canucks and senators who are in the bottom half of the league. Nevermind the Sabres, devils, red wings, ducks, etc.

I'm having a civil, hockey discussion with him. If it goes sideways, I'll know what to do.
- mjones242

That's a classic troll strategy. He'll find one person to have a civil conversation with, while continuing to spew bile and hatred to everyone else.

He's lost his right to post here. Sadly, there's no ref around to enforce it.

Please stop interacting with him.

We know who he is. He's a racist P.O.S.

I'm really not so sure about this.

I don't think he would have ever enjoyed a good team, because he constantly demonstrated that he was jealous of the attention and praise they received.

I've tried explaining Ballard to my kids a few times. They don't get it.

And saying "I swear, he was worse than Marge Schott" doesn't help.

It's no losing to a zomboni driver but Leafs needed something like this. Without it the season wouldn't be complete.

Edit: I found the spelling mistake but I'm not changing it

And for those of you kids who don't know who Marge Schott was:

https://vault.si.com/vaul.../heaven-help-marge-schott

During the 1994-95 baseball strike Schott stopped having the Reds office bathrooms professionally cleaned, so some employees did the job themselves. She has been known to rummage through the trash barrels to make sure scrap paper is written on both sides. She eliminated free tissues for employees. She keeps the lights off whenever possible, extinguishing them when you leave your office just to walk down the hall. The hallway carpeting is so old and tattered that the seams are held together with duct tape. Schott wants the heat turned down to 55 [degrees] at five o'clock, so some employees have been known to bring in their own space heaters. She does all of this at every place she owns.

No wonder, according to Bass, that male employees of Schott's occasionally ask her to sign a publicity shot for a "niece," then take it into the men's room, place it in the urinal and fire away.

I would actually believe the Tanner/UG connection.

Either way, UG was the biggest troll job this site has ever seen, he poop texted all over this place torturing everyone for like 15 years. Now that he's finally gone does not mean every time someone else acts like a (frank)ing idiot that UG wasn't a problem.

He can have his GD bromance with him without campaigning to unlock him back to his (frank)ery here.

Hope Hyman is back for round 1 or after the easy sweep of the Habs.

Silver lining is we get to see Robertson...think he could be a good player once he gets settled in and more confident.

Buffalo's record without Hall:

2 Wins, 1 shootout loss, and 1 loss (a very close 3-2).

The plot thickens!

I noticed the same thing. The book is certainly being written and he has yet to make the necessary adjustments.

Hoping Rittich gets the next start and can put in a solid effort while Jack regroups a bit.

I am NOT looking forward to the Leafs panicking and inserting Freddie back in the lineup before (and if) he's (ever) ready.

- mjones242

I agree 100%. In any case, Rittich can be a good goaler when he's on his game. Last thing Leafs need to do is panic. They should just be looking to avoid injuries down the stretch and close out teams when they grab them by the cooch.

There was no reason for allowing a beat up team like the Canucks back into the game. They have to get that killer instinct and stomp on the other team's throat.

Thanks btw. I appreciate a civil conversation.

Look, I haven't been interacting with this person on a political level and I'm sure as poop not going to take accusations of "racism" at face value without clear evidence that he is a bigot. Too often I've seen bad faith interpretations of views where one of the parties is called "racist" to shut down an opposing viewpoint (which very well may need updating).

I'm not into cancelling people and I try to stay away, as best as possible, any of the political debates that go on in here. People, behind keyboards, tend to treat these types of discussion as frothing-at-the-mouth, zero sum games (I'm not immune!).

If he interacts with me in a way that I feel is bigoted, racist, sexist, transphobic, or whatever the (frank) -- I will certainly cease interacting with this individual.

I don't have the time to bother going back through multiple threads to read ridiculous political poopposting to see if he (or anyone else) crossed the line. If you want to take the time to cite examples in a private message to me to open my eyes, I'll be happy to have a look and evaluate. I usually skip by political charged discussions as I find a lot of it is people venting or bullpoop posturing.

As it stands now, I'm having a hockey discussion that has been civil. I'm making a concerted effort on my part to try to be more thoughtful and more hockey oriented in my posting.

I think I may have vented a bit about the lockdowns recently, but it was a very short (and, I think, uncontroversial) post and I managed to catch myself from rattling on about it (I'll save that for hockey debates!).

Anyway, I appreciate that you've had incidents with this poster. I can guarantee you, I will scrutinize my interactions with this person (and some others here) in order to make sure things don't go off the rails as a result of my posting.

Cheers! 🍺
