Raycroft sucked!!!! I agree.
My fav to hate, but I was far from the only one, in fact, I think this may be the only united hate for any individual player that I recall in recent Leaf history, my good buddy, David Clarkson.

So many......Ryan Hollweg comes to mind, or Jeff Finger, or the "Polish Prince" Mariusz Czerkawski, Luka Caputi, Mike Van Ryan.

Even Zaitsev after he signed that 5 year deal but thanks Sen-a-turds for taking him!

Ah nightmares - I mean memories

As a goalie that gives me nightmares. I can only imagine the thoughts in my head if I was that goalie:

This mother (frank)er just shot at my head?

WTF that's in the net?

I need to go cry in the corner now.

FO' SHO!

Only advantage of being an old, slow goalie is you don't drop down into a bfly by default because you know that it will hurt to get back up so you MIGHT have a chance on that because you would still not be in a full butterfly and actually look like you made a good save.

I also like Matthews' little chip shots from in front, like last night. They're not as powerful as this but equally impressive I think.

I absolutely loved the Larry Murphy trade. Mike Smith was Leafs GM. Holland didn't take over as Red Wings full time GM until the following season. Murphy was made to be a scapegoat in Toronto. Alot of Leaf fans couldn't stomach him making $3 million a season. The vitriol was real.

What I didn't understand was, how did he only receive "future considerations" in return? The Leafs paid half his remaining salary that season AND the next season when the Red Wings won another Stanley Cup.

Scotty Bowman had Murphy in Pittsburgh when they won 2 Cups so he knew him very well. There's no question a young Nick Lidstrom made Murphy look much better than he was. But Murphy could still play at a high level.

The trade was extra beneficial for Detroit after Konstantinov lost his career to that stupid limo accident. He was just as valuable to the Red Wings at the time as Lidstrom was.

My best Larry Murphy Red Wings memory is seeing both he and Lidstrom nullify the Flyers' infamous "Legion of Doom" line in the 1997 SCF. Lindros didn't score his first goal of the series until a minute left in game 4. That line barely had the puck in those 4 games. It was beautiful.

I never hated Clarkson... can't blame him for taking that contract in his home town.... and he tried... he just set himself up for failure taking that much money.... awful awful signing.
