I'm a true believer in "offense comes from defense". Im actually more worried about Sanheim, Myers,York, and well Provy is already pretty good. The forwards have been awful on the backcheck. They are constantly outworked in all three zones, but particularly in their own. I hope for the sake of all Flyers fans those young guys you mention they can truly contribute
- DANCER

Provy is Provy, he is good but not great, not the player we hoped he would be. I think Morin will be OK if he can stay healthy, he uses his size and plays with a physical edge, just need to continue to work with him on positioning a bit. Don't know anything about how York will do, but playing for the Phantoms this year will give us some indication. Sanheim is an offensive threat but is very poor defensively. He does not use his size and is often out of position. At 25 years old I'm not sure how much better he will be. Myers to me is the worst of the bunch, awful offensively and even worse defensively. I have no hope for him. Ghost is what he is, good offensively but awful defensively; is actually in position most of the time, just gets overpowered. For the money he makes, the Flyers can do better here.

Wade Allison is no Tye McGinn and he is no Al Hill. Allison's issue has always been injuries. He'd have turned pro after his sophomore season at WM, most likely, but he tore his ACL midway through what was a breakout season. It took him 18 months to get back to 100%. He was a senior by that point. Then he had unrelated injury issues
before closing out his college career with a rush.

In camp with the Flyers this year, he had an ankle issue that caused him to be shut down on Day 2. Had surgery that forced him to miss the start of the AHL season. Once he actually did get on the ice, he started scoring immediately.

With the Flyers, because they have him netfront on the power play, he hasn't gotten to use his best weapon yet: he has a high-grade one-timer from his off-wing or the middle of the slot.

McGinn didn't have Allison's hands. He did play some net-front and could knock in some rebounds and deflections. He couldn't score from distance, though. Allison can.

Al Hill was a decent 4th line player who worked his tail off, but he'd never been a big goal scorer. He had one magical, history-making night that just so happened to be his NHL debut.

Allison is a powerful skater and he hustles. He also has some things in his game that he can improve. With the Phantoms, he sometimes tried to force plays that weren't there, and sometimes in dangerous areas. He's not a budding young Selke-like winger in his own zone but you can say that of most power forwards.

Allison has a feisty side to his game sometimes. That hasn't come to the forefront yet but it eventually will.

The thing with McGinn is that he had an eye injury in a fight. When he came back, he wasn't nearly as physical as he was before. He was less effective. With Allison, if he lost other parts of his game, he could still contribute something if he just parked himself in the slot to be fed one-timers.

Watch for Tyson Foerster over the next few years, too. He has a more diverse and dynamic offensive arsenal than Allison and just as heavy of a shot. He just needs to continue working on his skating and adding power. The hands and ice vision aspects are first-line caliber if he maxes his potential. Before the Phantoms had their last four games postponed due to Covid-related issues, Foerster was on a tear. He's just turned 19 and was starting to take over games at the AHL level.

Thanks Bill! I told everyone here that I was bullish on Foerster, with his shot and instincts to go to the right offensive places, he is exactly what this team needs. I think next year has to be all about getting Foerster, Allison and York ice time in the NHL and letting them grow, they along with TK and Farabee are the future core of this team! And I want re-iterate to watch out for O'Brien either next year or the year after, he is the real deal!

Why are you so high on O’Brien and what does he project to be in your opinion.

Allison is ready but I’d rather they be patient with the other 2. Maybe some late season games once the flyers are out of it

So far so good. Both guys are natural scoring big bodied guys. I’ve liked Allison’s game so far, just with the hustle. He reminds me of Hartnell....just not sure if the hair is influencing me ...lol. So far Allison seems like that heart and soul type guy, god knows the Flyers could use that. Hopefully he can stay healthy the rest of this year, pot a few more goals, have a great summer and hit the ground running come next season.

Might be a little early for Foerster , no? The kid has barely played this year, although watching him last year he has a chance to be really good. As Bill suggests he’s starting to control play in the AHL, so maybe but theres no rush. O’Brien took steps this year, but I assume he goes back for at least one more year. At least he’s in the conversation again for the Flyers.

I think Morin has at least earned another contract...I hope it’s in Philly. As far as the big 3, I haven’t liked any of their games this year. Everyone knows they can be a lot better as we’ve seen it. They are better when they are taking the body, but they rarely do....man compared to other d corps around the league they pass up chances to finish their checks...way, way to often. Say what you want about Hagg, but at least he takes the body and makes it tough on guys. Personally I think it might be Hagg who gets taken in the expansion draft. I’m not ready to write off Myers like you are but I agree he will need to learn from this year and be much better next year. Sanheim is better when he’s skating and since those Ranger games has played a bit better. Provy seems to have lost his dynamic edge....he was trending towards being a decent #1 guy. This year he has not played well and it really becomes important for the Flyers to get the guy a really good partner that compliments his game. Provorov even as a solid # 2 would be a huge step forward for the Flyers next year.

Very informative and heartening. When was the last time we drafted a genuine goal scoring scoring winger? (I am discounting Giroux because he is pass first and because he played center most of his stay here so far). Gagne?

Gagne was drafted as a center and played center his rookie season. He was moved to wing in season 2

O'Brien had a great year with BU, showed tremendous growth and finally started living up to what you would expect from a first round draft pick. He will probably have another year in college but if he stays on his current course I project him to be at least a number 2 center on this team. He is a lot like Konecny in terms of size, but he is a better skater.

I hope Morin stays with Philly too, given the patience the Flyers have shown to him, its at least what he can do for them in return. I like Haag and agree that he might be the one that is snatched up by Seattle. I think all the Flyer Dmen have been exposed this year because they have been put in situations in terms of minutes played and game situations that they just were not ready for. That is why I think getting a couple of really good Dmen like Hamilton, Ekholm, Ellis or Jones will really settle things down and allow the remaining Dmen to slot into the right position.

Regarding Foerster we'll see how he does the remainder of this season for the Phantoms, but if he continues to dominate there is no reason to keep him in the AHL other than if he is not physically ready or they want to work on his skating a bit more. But I am honestly not surprised he is doing it already with the Phantoms. I was hoping given where the Flyers were drafting last year they would get Foerster, and was very happy when they chose him. Every thing I read about him at the time was he had the best shot in the draft, so to get a player like at 23 is a big win for the Fletcher. I will say this for Fletcher, I think he has drafted well so far, and is not afraid to let these prospects move up if he thinks they are ready, unlike Hextall who was afraid to let these kids shine.
