Drouin cap situation makes more sense to them. Like way more sense

Allen is good but will Seattle pick a back up? They have a few options on defense and it might be it

- deadpoulet

Allen is better than some starters on other teams.

And he doesn't cost much for the next 2 years.

He'll be an interesting choice for them.

But there will be a few good players to choose from for Seattle in Montreal imo.

I hope they stay away from Fleury. I believe in this guy.

I guess it depends on how they wanna build the team, but having a decent backup is always a nice thing to have... I hope the habs get to keep him, although I wonder what their planned timeline is for Primeau, if he's ready then losing Allen wouldn't be that turrible

I really hope Primeau is ready will help us get players for other positions with the cap space

he's 21, so it's very young for a goalie... but if he's able to do the backup job (with a sufficient number of regular season games, so that Price is rested and Primeau gains experience) it would be pretty nice indeed

Do goalies need a few more years to develop than forwards and dman ?

Best scenario is that Primeau can be good enough to split starts with Price at some point and eventually take over.

Kinda like Saros in Nashville.

I've been a loser on this site for 14 years.

I've seen hockeybuzz careers ruined and lost. Or participants never being the same afterwards.

It's NO joke.

I haven't looked at the numbers recently but yes I'm pretty sure goaltenders usually take more time... look at Carter Hart, he was pretty damn good for a while but he's having his fair share of struggles now, most likely growing pains

Can't wait for Philly to trade him away and see him become amazing elsewhere.

yeah it would be a bit odd if they waited a few years and just gave Primeau the #1 spot all of a sudden, with barely any NHL experience. a "transition" sounds like a good plan, I agree.

I had to double-check the score after reading this, it almost sounds like they lost the game... was it that bad of a win? lolll
- Pat1993

Yeah it was, 30 turnovers is insane, they really didn’t deserve that win. Well, Allen did but the team as a whole? No

Don’t think Primeau is ready for next year, the fact that MB signed Allen for 2 more years is a clear indication of the timeline he had in mind for Primeau. They didn’t need to sign Allen to have a goalie to expose at the draft they already had one who met the criterion, that’s what he said at the time anyways...Guess it’s McNiven given that he’s the RFA one

were they at least slightly better than how they played during the previous game..? that was a no-show, so not very hard to beat lol... anyways I hope we see the "good version" of Carey Price from the get-go, would be nice if they could string a couple of victories for once
