I had to double-check the score after reading this, it almost sounds like they lost the game... was it that bad of a win? lolll
- Pat1993

Habs made plenty of mistakes, Calgary wasn't able to capitalize and Toffoli is amazing.

Pretty much sums up the game.

But bottom line is, we won against Calgary, which was god damn important.

Next season will depend greatly on Suzuki and Kotkaniemi once again, along with Caufield... unfortunately the D looks old and slow, that will need to be addressed externally, nobody is ready to jump in from within.

There will be a natural transition with faster defenseman in 2 years with some of Harris, Norlinder, Struble, Fleury, Brooks being close to the NHL being there and Romanov being older and better.

Weber's role will be reduced, Chiarot will be gone...

Things are looking good moving forward I'm telling ya.

Weber is playing injured right now.

I'm sure of it.

It's a tough call who I'd rather see go, but I think Weber has value in a top 4 role if his minutes are managed, whereas Drouin is dead weight at all times. Not to mention there are zero options to replace Weber because their defensive prospect pool is pretty abysmal.

The 6MM contract for Weber give us a lot of options, Hamilton, Savard etc, Gallagher is ready to be the C once Weber leaves. Whether a ufa want to sign with us this off-season will depend somewhat on how we do in the PO this year

a regulation win against the team chasing us, what's not to like

and yeah I wonder if Toffoli still has that lingering injury (he seemed to struggle a lot while skating during practice not so long ago) but it's nice he's able to contribute like he's doing depsite that. 21 goals now..?

Trying to sign a top 4 D externally here sounds like a very unreliable option. At best they overpay for a top 4 D, at worst they're signing an Alzner and pretending he's a top 4 D.

In a full season, he'd be on pace for a 40 goal season.

Something we haven't seen in Montreal in a while despite Pacioretty getting close a few times.

The help will need to come from within.

We cannot expect to have a decent cap management if our young guys cannot take their place on the team at lower cost.

With Alzner I think MB was in desperation
mode that year but I agree you never know. Many things come into play when trading for or signing a player, but there is risk all the time whether you look outside, from within or have a player that is injury prone or aging

I was initially baffled by the whole thing.

But since we don't have a baseball team, Soccer will remain the sport I watch in the summer.

Drouin cap situation makes more sense to them. Like way more sense

Allen is good but will Seattle pick a back up? They have a few options on defense and it might be it
