they're the patriots of the NHL. they're going to keep doing these things that are technically legal but obviously dubious until they change the rules. then they'll find another way to bend them
- picklerick

If I were a Devils fan, I'd be furious. You could argue this is worse than the Kovy shenanigans, maybe by a significant margin.

I haven't heard a peep from any other team calling them out on it, so I guess it's no big deal

it's becoming more and more egregious. just because we aren't hearing it publically doesnt mean its not being discussed behind the scenes. who knows

just like clockwork

Tampa Bay puts Stamkos on LTIR, and ooooooooh, what do you know, Kucherov is healthy enough for a full practice LOL

I don't know if they win the bubble cup and the COVID season cup, do they really count?

But for real to win a cup when you only play a max of 9/10 teams all season is pretty whack if you think about it

Complete BS, but if rules allow this latitude than what can ya do?
- rrentz

The worst part to me was that they are only paying 25% of his salary. If you can only retain half, the team the guy is playing for should have to pay at least half, in my mind.

I really should wait to post this after sundown so that Jan can't post a new blog and we can really watch this board burn, but...

If the Rangers do manage to catch Boston and make the playoffs, does that make Quinn the front runner for the Jack Adams???

One point behind Carolina and Tampa, and both have games in hand. Still though Q is the frontrunner.

Looking at the standings...woof the West is badddddd. Of course getting beat up on the Avs hurts a bunch of teams, but nobody wants the 4th spot.

Imagine if somehow the Sharks get in (only 4 points back). That might set the team back for years.

We’ve got way bigger problems to worry about than the Lightning cap issues.....like icing an NHL roster

If any team can do this; philosophically why is this not Kosher?

it's a case of the haves and the have nots. What other teams are even close to a position to do something like this? Also, it's not what the rules were intended for. Technically legal but obviously not intended

what they really should do is make the salary cap count in the playoffs too

gonna be very interesting to see Shesterkin's contract

and I think it would be wise to try and move Georgiev if they find a taker

- jimbro83

Trade Georgie, sign Hank to a 1 year deal and get him his cup next year

They need to fix the rules. Tampa is buying cap space with draft picks. If 50% is the max salary that can be retained, it should be 50% of the players Cap hit period, not 50% every time you launder him through another team
