I believe part of the reason that Trouba is playing so well is the ascension of Millers play. K'Andre is playing GREAT! He has started to assert himself physically lately and he is meshing well with Trouba. He absolutely rag-dolled one of the Devils last night and made it look so easy! - TommyGTrain
This actually would be my biggest reservation of considering trading Key. It was thought in the beginning Skeji was the guy to be the perfect compliment, but Key and Trouba just work so well together.

the economics of it in a few years are what they are regardless of how anyone feels about Trouba
in 2024 or so some decisions will need to be made
but right now and definitely still next year at least, they have no one like Trouba
he'll continue to lead the team in hits, blocked shots and be right at the top of icetime every game. - jimbro83
This is kind of my reasoning when I say we should think about going all in now. I think we are set up well for the long term, but again this thing could be teetering far earlier than expected just due to the financial obligations to everyone that will eventually happen.

gonna be very interesting to see Shesterkin's contract
and I think it would be wise to try and move Georgiev if they find a taker

Georgie might be on his way to being non tendered IMO. He has not had a good calendar year now, as much as he has exceeded any realistic expectation, you can't get outplayed by Keith Kincaid and have any value.

well he's already signed for next year at 2.425 million
I'd argue they should consider leaving him exposed to Seattle

They really should. It's one thing if he was playing to starter quality and had either value as a trading chip, or a Talbot level backup. There's just no reason for Georgie after his contract runs out. Our franchise goalie is young and you either can just get a endless string of vets to backup, or we just have other guys in the system anyway that should get a look. Either way, Georgie should be gone after next year

I had to come in and commiserate after two thorough beatings at the hands of our most hated "rivals." I put rivals in quotes as it denotes two NHL caliber teams, and I' not sure we qualify presently. |

Raanta is a UFA after the season, they could probably sign him for cheaper than Georgiev if they wanted to

Jack Hughes still just looks sooooooooo tiny to me
Devils need to get their version of Tom Wilson to play with him

MDW is a Trouba hater and has been working on his house more than playing with us, so that's died down - jimbo83
I "hated" the way he was playing. Same with Zib. Bit of a difference |

I've got strong opinions about that kid but I've beaten that drum enough on the Devils blogs that I'm basically an outcast. |

there's a lot of talk with the Rangers and the need to put our kid's in the position to succeed
and Jack Hughes, he's obviously got skills to burn, but he's just so small
Mercer and Holtz looks like terrific prospects but also smallish finesse players
Devils should think big at the draft

It might be a bad strategy, but I'd almost double down on it. If you are going to have smallish speed prospects, make that your identity and build around that. I think that trying to put a hodge podge together of players is the worst thing you could do. You could always target bigger defensmen.

I am sure the Devils would love to draft Owen Power in first round, but I wonder what they would do if they have the oppportunity, take a goliath like Owen Power, or take Jack Hughes brother Luke?
right now I see them projected to go 2nd and 3rd in the draft

If it was me I'd take Luke. He won't be huge like Owen, but will perfectly be fine once he grows into his frame, he's not Pionk or anything. The Devils need to get guys that can defend and then transition to offense. I think their offense would look alot better, if they simply weren't in their own end seemingly the entire game. They probably should get rid of Ruff, but I think there in lies the problem.

they're the patriots of the NHL. they're going to keep doing these things that are technically legal but obviously dubious until they change the rules. then they'll find another way to bend them |
