Lol leave it to me to say sign Getzlaf cause hes a free agent and then trade for him.

Is Chytil on an upswing? I dont think so. I think as fans some people put this veil over their eyes when it comes to talking about Chytil.

We trade Chytil for a future 1st round pick or something and call it a day.

Getzlaf is a stop gap until we end up in a situation where we have to decide the future of the defense in 3 years.

i feel like we'd be better served not accumulating more picks or players who are years away from making the team. If we could move Chytil or strome + picks and/or prospects for a bonafide stud center that would be something i could wrap my head around

Afternoon, boys, how we doing? Apologies for no blog, had some family stuff come up and work as well. Glad our division rivals helped us out so much this weekend, hopefully enough time to take care of business on our own

Saw a Chytl plus for Monohan on twitter. Hes a better fit and price than Eichel if he becomes available

I would be on board for Monahan. Still only 26 and 2 years left at 6.375 before becoming a UFA. Could probably buy low(ish) and if he doesn’t work out we aren’t locked in long term.

I know that you are completely done with Chytil, I just haven't seen any evidence to make me believe the Rangers are

They aren't. Which is awesome

Typo.
The proper acronym for Get To the PlayOffs should be GTPO.

Congratulations to Will Cuylle, who has been doing a fine job as an “under aged” fourth line forward at Hartford this season. He signed an ELC with the Rangers that has been announced today.

Ehhhh. I feel like thats almost like getting Brenden Lemieux back but with a bit more scoring. I dont think thats the right move for the franchise.

Personally, I think if we are to contend for the Cup next year, the correct move for the Rangers is to get an aging vet like Getzlaf for the third line. He will be a FA, we can sign him for 2 yrs at like 5m per.

1. This instantly gives PP2 a legit center.
2. This makes our PK better as hes fantastic on faceofffs and overall a solid defender.
3. Can play with the kids and teaching them. Not many better teachers the last 20y to learn a 200ft game.
4. Gives us reliable depth at center should someone get hurt or sick.
5. Overall just having a veteran like him on the roster would be a big help with a playoff run.

So you want to keep Getzlaf for not just one year but three????

For years we all complained how the Rangers never give the kids time to develop and now you want to sign Getzlaf and give away a 21yo Chytil????

God I love this board!!

No way would I be interested in a 35 or 36 year old Getzlaf. and No way near 5M a year, I wouldnt go over 2M, if I was interested. You stick him in Chytil's spot, it would still be the Kid Line because he could almost be Kakko & Laf's dad. Plus those Over 35 contracts have a habit of biting teams in the arse.

His contract would have to be similar to a Thornton contract if he was to sign here

Has it been so long since NYR signed an aging FA that they've changed the rules already????????

Wow. Will the Rangers be finally rid of their stigma of only building a team with past their prime vets?
