Taylor who? He’s nowhere near eichel level. We’re talking about the elite player level here - SMS4016
What do you say to the stat Tomahawk posted some days back? Eichel on 5-on5/60 is not in the top 30 centers over past 4 years. Then his herniated disk. And the 10 mil contract?

Who's he closer to in historical performance? McDavid or Taylor Hall?

Braun looked gassed last night. Let him sit a game and put in Morin. Allison looked pretty good in his opening NHL game. Having him and Tanner L in the games gives the Flyers some extra speed and energy. Except for a bad goal to Cindy Crybaby, Hart looked good. Hopefully he gains some confidence from last night's game?
The Flyers played a lot better last night. Where was this during the month of March????? |

There's a contract in place. Nothing is gonna happen unless both the team and the player want to move on. Jack can want out all he wants. The Sabres can just say no. What's Eichel gonna do? Stay home and give up $10M in base salary next season? - Tomahawk
No he would show up but would kill his drive or compete level. |

Look at who he plays with. To sum it up
Skinner scores 40 goals on jacks line
Sabs hire soccer coach and take skinner off jacks line scores 4 goals.
5on5 is always gonna be skewed. How good is team? How talented? What system they play? Are they losing team and other team sitting back? Many factors. The way game played today it’s about the special teams. How is a poopty team like bumbalo ranked #1 on pp? Eichel that’s how. He goes out of lineup where are they now? 23rd? Very very telling I’d say. And 10mil actually not a bad contract. Even now let alone as cap goes up |

Who's he closer to in historical performance? McDavid or Taylor Hall? - Tomahawk minus Gretzky and maybe one or two others, who is on mcdavid s level? He’s not a generational talent. He is one of the greatest all time. Or will go down as one. |

Eichel on good team is 40 goals 60 assist minimum. How many players in league are that? 5 maybe |

I think that this community seriously undervalues Coots. IMO when you are talking Coots + any other asset, the return is very few players in this league, and Eichel is not one of them. - mkabbeko
Cool, so Coots and a 5th for Hedman or Draisaitl. Sound good?

Recchi trade to Montreal.
Leclair
Desjardins - SMS4016 Last century, before cap. Dont get me wrong...i would love to have Eichel and i would give a kings ransome to have him but i dont have faith this team or GM would have the stones...Recchi was closer to Eichel level, neither DesJardin or LeClair that highly regarded despite coming off a Habs Stanley cup.
Dont forget the Flyers also got Gilbert Dionne. I think you could say the Flyers ended up on the plus side of that trade |

I love random stats used to suit your needs. Farabee is higher than Couturier this year, you think he's a better player? |

i like eichel a lot too. he isn't a generational talent as some people here like to claim. he's also not worth coots, 2 firsts+. (frank) out of here. |

ok, so Konecny and Giroux are higher, are they better? Stats tell only part of a picture, especially when you cherry pick stats |

I still dont see the Sabres trading him.

crosby is for sure. ovechkin is one of the best goal scorers ever, so i'd put him there as well. agree about eichel, i think he's a very good player. |

How does that trade make the Flyers better in the short term and long term?
Note I'm not saying Eichel isn't a stud but he also isn't McJeebus. - opeth_pa
He'd also be the best player on the team. In his prime. Not sure how that doesn't make them better both long and short term.
As for the moving pieces. I don't know what it would take. I'm not even sure if Voracek gets it started. Might have to go younger and better. |

They are certainly better performers 5-on-5/60 over the 4 year period, by definition.
Stats are always part of the picture. Never all of it. But a picture is made of several parts, and there is no reason to throw away information about 1 part because that part is not the whole.
Cherry picking stats would be essentially ignoring other parts, which no one is suggesting we do. |

Trading MY MAIN MAN, Couturier, could easily make me a fan for my local team.
Are there better players? That depends on what you are looking for.
He is stellar as an all-around, clever center.
As to how you measure someone statistically, who has a PDO of 96.4, it's too complicated for me. He is STILL in the top 40 rankings in both CF and FF, so make YOUR adjustments accordingly. His Pts generation is about 3.1/60.
Much of the weakness in his stats could be laid at the fundaments of playing with WEAK teammates. Consider the +/- of -1 on a team that is -28.
He's D first dude who scores almost a point per game. He is tied for 16th on GWGs in his abbreviated season. He's a standup guy who is also unlikely to get a penalty.
His tasking is the most difficult on the team. Which a Sleke Winner should get.
He's as loyal as a dog and will do whatever he can conceive of as a 'good' move EVERY time. He rarely 'blows' it and can score the 'out-of-your-seat goal.
Really, you think you want to trade him? Mid 20's, productive, never a liability, responsible, easy to coach, never a scene-stealer, stabilizer, durable, brave, team-oriented, consistent, and reliable player for the latest heart-throb???
DON'T!

Pretty sure perennial Hart and Norris candidates would fall under the "very few players" stipulation. |
