Well duh! Barry can’t even win the cup with Isles. Eastern conference finals is all he could do and that was his second year!! Ain’t cutting it IMO. SMH.

I was looking through past photos for one with me and Cappy in cigar shop in Saratoga, believe was 2015 or 16. Long story short I had a cigar w Cappy in member lounge upstairs at my shop, and we got eliminated first round by Caps I think. I asked him why JB wasn’t on PP and he laughed and said he’d look down bench at Dougie Weight and ask the same thing.
He then handed me his phone and shared an email w Garth that he put together that showed points by defenseman and they’re team standings. His point was that the highest ranked teams had defenseman with the highest contributing points. Not sure if it’s valid today but that was his philosophy from what I gathered. I know he gets heat on here, but he was a really good dude. Laughed when I asked about Boychuk and said his buddies did the same thing.

Yeah I heard he was a character.
Biggest problem with the Islanders back then was Garth, imo. Wasn’t a fan of Crappy as coach but Garth hired him and kept him so.
As far as Dman points it certainly helps and typically but not always a lot of those points are on the PP or just getting shots on net and crashing for the rebounds. Key is getting it through and on net. Something the Islanders seem to have a hard time getting done.

Garth wanted a Yes Man and he had one. If the guy had any integrity or any sense of self worth he would have spoken up and or walked away.

I also suspect that Doug Weight was forced on Cappy. It's kind of unusual for an assistant coach to also hold the title of assistant GM, but that's what Snow (and probably Wang) wanted.

It was such a poopshow. I'm so glad those days are behind us. It's really great to have the Islander team and organization getting respect again!

I'm not sure how to feel about the Bruins beating the Caps. At least it wasn't a two point game. - JimmyP
Right, it wasn't a 3-point game, which was mostly what I was rooting against. If the Caps won in regulation, maybe that would have helped the Isles slightly in terms of insuring them a playoff spot, but I was fine with a Bruins regulation win too.
The key is for the Isles to start playing well again. They need to start by beating the Flyers in regulation this evening.
Isles better get it together or they're gonna end up missing the playoffs. Rangers are on fore and bruins who everyone saod would be bad with all their games have won 4 straight too
