Generally, teams with the best offence win the first half of the season. Teams that play the best team defence will win during the stretch drive. Teams with the best goaltending always have an edge in the playoffs. - spatso

You’re actually right because it comes down to what you value. Countries that care enough prevent it from happening on the scale it happens in the US. In the US, let’s just say the values skew a little differently. - Canada Cup
I’m not sure i understand. By “countries” do you mean governments or the citizenry?
to which value(s) are you referring?
again, how would you prevent this sort of incident down here? |

I’m kinda coming to the realization that 1st place isn’t really going to matter.
All four teams are pretty equal.
Which is a little frightening. |

Do you want to know why you don’t know the answer to this question?
Because you don’t want to know the answer to this question.
In fact, you refuse to even look at the answer to this question, when it is put in front of you, again and again.
So thoughts and prayers, Skalapy.

Meh. When they're on a winning streak they're invincible, when they lose a few in a row they're going to be lucky to survive a 7 game series against Buffalo. |

I doubt we make it to game 7.
But if we do, I bet we jump out to a 4-1 lead... |

See, the secret is they need to time their 4 game winning streaks to start one game before the playoff round starts, then they go on a 3 game losing streak, and then they go on a 4 game winning streak and so on.

In the last month - 14 games
Leafs record is 9-3-2 (117 point pace)
Jets 10-5-1 (107)
Oilers 7-2-2 (119)
Habs 5-5-2 (82)
This is with a Power play that has been by far the worst in the NHL in that stretch.
Goals 1-3
The next worse is Philly at 7-5
the Leafs have 1 goal and the Xgf is 7.59 (call it 8). How much if a diff would that 7 goals make?
The Jets have 13 goals on 10.6 xgf
they have to get the PP figured out

5on5 play is more important in the playoffs but if there's never even a risk that they score on the PP then it's gonna be tough to win games

Mathews, Marner, Galchenyuk
Tavares, Nylander, Foligno
Hyman, Kerfoot, Mikheyev
Nash, Simmonds, Spezza
Hutton replaces Dermott
Rittick
Playoff lineup
Tavares has quietly really elevated his game, just in time.

Same story as Andersen really... Couple clean whiffs and a breakaway. Were there other factors? Sure. Does it absolve him of responsibility? No.

Prevent? I don’t know about preventing but I’m not sure I understand the need for easy ownership of semi-automatic, high velocity rifles basically designed for war. |

no I’m genuinely interested in others thoughts on this.
I would be interested to hear your solution as well
My micro solution is to maintain my carry permit and physical fitness so that I can act
I’ve gotten pretty lazy/complacent about carrying lately 🤦♂️
At this point, for a number of reasons, I don’t think that there’s a solution or answer. Just mitigation. |
