Contrast their approach 5 on 4 (slow, delibearate, plodding, perimeter passing) to their approach when 6-5 with goalie pulled (frenetic, attacking, traffic in front). They need more urgency on the powerplay, and the tone is set by Rielly - he slows things down WAY too much 5 on 4.

problem with power play is they played the same teams too many times. our defense cant get puck through for shot on goal or tip "Tavarves". The goalie and anyone else for that matter is waiting for mathews one timer. which is the only weapon the leafs use atm. not enough lookin for a dirty goal. You can't just score one way and be a one trick pony. Leafs always get better results when they play fast. power play or no power play. They are in their own heads now and overthinking everything. Now its up to coaching to help them see this and fix it. The skill is there. we all know this. there's time to right the ship.

speaking a lot about the PP being bad, but what about the PK...
Holl and Muzzin look like 2nd string AHL'ers on the PK..
( for the guy that said 'Holl and Muzzin one of the best shutdown d-pairings in the league').
4th WPG goal was just horrible.. Marner should have passed it to Holl directly, and not sure why Holl went all the way up there, 0 defensive coverage for Marner. (and Muzzin must be the slowest player on this team)
