but then you'd still have to go through the pre-morning, or whatever they would call it

Sorry to disappoint Marc but his contract ends in 2022... Still less costly to fire someone with a year to go than with 3...we’ll see how it plays out.

the writing is on the wall. he's in his 9th year, on his third coach, team is capped out and they're going to end up life and death for a playoff spot in a terrible 7-team division that includes a rebuild job in Ottawa and a team that has been felled by a deadly virus. this has actually happened.

i think there's a good chance the entire hockey ops/coaching apparatus gets dismantled.

Well the whole virus in Vancouver had no impact on the Habs since we played all our games against them before it happened.

And Ottawa isn't worse than other teams like Detroit.

Habs are playoffs bound, wildly inconsistent, but are also considerably better than they were last season.

If things stay the same and the Habs make the playoffs, there's still a chance Bergevin and Ducharme lose their job, but I'm not convinced.

If they miss them however. Everyone gets the boot.

you know what, this comment feels good obie, it's insane how depressing the comments can get in here sometimes lol

Habs looked much worse, more often last season and came out and won 3 out of 4 against the Pens in the play ins and gave Philly a run for their money afterwards... without Anderson, Toffoli, Perry and potentially Caufield and others... they looked absolutely horrible last night, no doubt, let's see how they bounce back tomorrow night

agreed

pretty sure the coaching staff doesn't even have to say anything, the players know they need to show up tomorrow.

Price will be rested, historically he always plays well in the post season but Habs could never find goals they needed so desperately... now they've added a few weapons up front... and for crying out loud, call up Caufield!

Weber looked really bad last night Pat, almost every play he was involved in ended in Calgary pressure... not hat anyone looked good but boy! Anderson always creates opportunities for himself, really like that player.

If nothing else buddy, he'll definitely be a shot in the arm for the PP

Ducharme was saying they need to be patient in his case, which definitely makes sense, but with the habs having basically zero pure snipers on their roster it would be silly not to try him out at least. I doubt an NHL game or 2 would ruin his career

Game or 2 and they won't be able to justify sending him back down... he's scoring at least 1 in his debut and you know it

During the game yesterday, Armia received a perfect pass on his stick, right in front of the goaltender.

It took him just that little extra time to get a shot and the goaltender easily made the save.

It's when you see plays like that, and then watch Caufield one-time instantly a saucer pass that you realize how much we need a guy like him.

yeah, not sure what the (frank) is going on with Weber (he's old, I know lol), usually he gets out of his funks and comes back stronger, but right now he does seem to be struggling more than usual...

or even if he doesn't score in his 1st game, but creates scoring chances, makes good plays, and doesn't look out of place, it'll already be a very good sign

Wouldn't be shocked to learn he's injured.

Remember before his knee surgery a few years back? He was playing terribly and playing through the pain until he finally stopped completely.

I think something's up. It's not just old age catching up to him in 4 months.

Doesn't even shoot anymore.

i think it's just something we're going to see more and more of as long as he's getting top-pair matchups. it's unfortunate but he just might no longer be a guy who can handle that type of opposition night in, night out.

i noticed this quite early in the season. not only does he rarely shoot but when he does, it's not the same shot anymore. maybe you're right about an injury because there's no reason he shouldn't still be able to crank it at his age.

still better than PK who stopped being good one night in his sleep. how long is the contract? he's not playing the whole thing out anyway, right?

i only watched bits and pieces of the last few games. he really looks shot out there? maybe it's just his age combined with the crazy schedule this year? can he get any maintenance days in or is there nobody else they can throw in for a game or two here or there?

I agree the change in his play has been pretty drastic, so if he's injured and harms the team's chances of winning more than helping them then they need to do something about it, such as trying to manage his ice time better... if they could lock a playoff spot early then maybe they could give him some rest but so far it looks like it's gonna be a tighter race than anticipated

i don't think you'll see him up unless the team's performance improves. they're not bringing him up to a team that's losing games and having a miserable time scoring. those generally aren't the conditions into which teams bring their blue chippers.
