Flyers need star player(s). G and Jake aren’t it anymore
- Just5

From Keith Jones in last night's post game.

"This is a team that demonstrated it didn't want it as bad as their opponents and have pout their GM in a position where he couldn't go out and add to the nucleus of the team right now. Its too big of a deal he has to make. Its not as simple as add a player at the deadline and fix this thing. This is a team in need of a major makeover and its going to be a busy offseason for Chuck Fletcher. This is not something you fix overnight or something you can fix in a week. This season has turned into an disaster and is not what any of us saw coming."

And I believe it must start with a change of leadership. 5 coaches in and the same problems persist, and the one constant through all of this ... the team leadership.

So i saw a post made earlier that the "Meltdown of Hart is on par with Carson Wentz"

That is some "WIP , I'm from South Philly So I know everything" level hyperbole.

Which goalie hasn't had a season where they regressed early on in their career?

In his third season Carey Price struggled winning only 13 or 14 games.
Every successful goalie has a season or sometimes 2 where they hit a wall early on an move past it. Based n facts and reality achieving success as a goalie in the NHL isn't a linear success pattern so I'm not sure why we would expect Hart to move that way.

Is it disappointing , 100%
Is it unexpected , earth shattering or Wentz like , lulz no.

- opeth_pa

Wentz was severely mismanaged by Pederson. Watch him ball out in the fall under Reich.

Your original post asked what goalie hasn’t regressed early in his career did it not?
So, when did Brodeur regress?

The entire future is bright brigade, how’s that working out? The Flyers are an underachieving group of female doges.

The fan-base hasn't changed either. Just saying.

The Flyers need two-way players. Laczynski is exactly that with some skill as well (although not star level skill). As long as Wade Allison stays healthy-- that's the biggest question mark -- Flyers fans are really going to like him. Outstanding shooter, plays with "snot and balls," as they say.
- bmeltzer

Allison, I think he is a good piece if healthy. Shoot first, skates well, seem to have hockey sense and gets to the puck. Having him and Tanner hit their potential should also allow the Flyers to sell low on some Vets. Say they can find a taker for JVR, I don't think Allison is JVR but he is big body who should chip in, if someone gets him the puck he will score.

Why I have been asking about Allison since the beginning of the season, but healthy really is the big concern. Pleasantly surprised with Tanner L, skates better than I thought and gets to the spots.

I agree with you about Foerster. With Frost I hope you are right, but my concern is his size and the type of injury he suffered to his shoulder. We have seen players never fully recover from the type of injury Frost sustained. I hope he recovers completely and adds 10 more pounds of muscle so he can withstand the grind of an NHL season.
- jd250

JD...Im hoping Foerster is going to be another LeClair but long odds on that. He isn't A great skater. I don't know how players taken as low in the First round as he was simply just become stars...obviously some have. Is it luck or just great GMs being great? It seems the last guys drafted by the Flyers who burst on the scene as real stars were Propp, Tochet, and Zezel (well maybe not so much Zezel)

Post taken from another site. Seems to fit. Just the caliber of team and players fit the bill

“It sounds like you have the "Muskoka Five" situation the Leafs had in the early 2000’s. The five highest salaried players were accused of simply not really caring about winning, but more about getting paid and the season over with, and then heading to Muskoka for the summer. Muskoka is a district about a three hour drive north of Toronto known for its many lakes, golf courses, and elaborate summer residences of the wealthy from Toronto.

The Muskoka Five became the villains of the team: Darcy Tucker, Bryan McCabe, Mats Sundin, Tomas Kaberle, and Pavel Kubina. They all owned million dollar summer cottages there, all within a few miles of each other.”

But Price had about a 5/6 week stretch that year where he was at about .889 . Actually, Mason's last season as a Flyer, he was well below 90% for the first half and 92% for the second half.

We need to back off on Hart. He's our best chance right now. If there is a junior goalie worth taking in this years draft given the paucity of talent it might be the right time to do it.

Only in your world is a 70-80 point 30 goal Selke winner not a top center.
- MJL

Only in your delusional world is a 1 time in 10 year career that that happened considered his norm. I guess g is a 100 point top line winger right. Because you know this 1 time he had a career year. You really are special. But yep keep pushing your narrative

It's just interesting to see a guy like Ryan McDonagh, who finally won a Cup last season, blast his team for a poor performance last night while the Flyers just simply shrug their shoulders and move on to the next game.

Coots has been a Selke candidate numerous times, (or at least should have been), if I'm not mistaken.

And that really surprises me because I really like AV and thought he was doing a really good job up until the COVID break out that happened to the team. I just am really puzzled by this whole situation.

Hart showed up at a time when high profile Flyers usually fade. He was 0.926 with 2 shutouts in the playoffs over 14 games.

By far he is our best superstar hope.

Well it is puzzling. There is something going on with the team that we are not privy to I think. The loss of niskanen, struggles of Patrick/Lindblom do not explain all the blowouts and incredibly listless play.

My theory is that it was never much more than an average boat. And then it sprung two leaks: in top pairing D, and 2C position. And the kids could not handle the flooding.

Probably the most pathetic Flyers regular season game I've seen in forever. The second and third periods were like a preseason game. It's like the Caps came out and ruled the world in the first period and the Flyers said "Uncle". Then it was like there was a gentlemen's agreement on the ice that the Caps wouldn't ruffle the Flyers' skirts after that. I've never seen this before. Tom Wilson had someone lined up in the third period last night and he was like.....nah, I'll take it easy on this softie. Put Hayes, Voracek, Giroux and JVR on waivers! Thanks!!

Who is the last flyer as bad at their job as Patrick is? I’m not counting callups for a game or two. I’m talking about a player who is supposed to be an integral piece to the lineup and has been trotted out there over a consistent period of time. Who has been as bad/ineffective?

I believe he’s been worse than Vinny L. Riley cote I don’t believe won a fight in the nhl.

May have to go back further

As putrid as this team currently is no one has been anywhere near as bad as Lecavilier or Bryz.

I just added on to my other post. Bryz actually had several good moments though. Vinny I think he is very comparable to.

Bryz did have moments but his gaffs were all timers. But yeah, doesn’t he still hold the Flyers shutout streak?

Trending.......right.

Not saying all but. Jake or g. I keep g. Can’t stand watching jake go through the motions some nights. He has shown his skill. The comments last night about Martha reminded me of jake.

Heard for two years how ghost is worth it. Well I disagree. One arguable two good seasons. Guess he has two years left. Just hope aeattlevtakes on or the other.

Didn’t understand the jvr signing. Not mad at it but am please with how he has played at least.

Hayes. Is what it is. Still think it’s an overpayment and the term hurts.

Hart needs to be sheltered a little more.

Wait. They got better or the caps were up by 5 goals and relaxed. Never mind. They were relaxed from the puck drop.
