I can live with Ghost as long as he is 3rd pairing and 2nd PP unit. The really want the Flyers to go into next year with a top 4 D of Hamilton, Provorov, Ellis/Ekholm, York, and then let whoever is left to battle for the final spots. - jd250
What makes you think York is ready to play top 4 as a rookie?

IMO Hextall was fired because he was stubborn and difficult to work with. But I am not in the back offices, this is completely speculation on my part. - jd250
When Hextall was here and if he was stubborn and difficult to work with but the Flyers were a solid playoff team and moving towards contention. Would he have been fired?

Love how he's so mindful of Nashville's cap situation, but somehow he's added Ellis/Ekholm, signed Dougie Hamilton AND brought in a top-line shoot-first winger with no mention at all of how he did it, lol. - Tomahawk
I am getting rid of Jake and JVR, read my entire post!

Probably not. People put up with other people they don't like when the results are there. But if you rub people the wrong way they will look for ways to get rid of you, and when results are not there that opens the door. |

Hope? I actually don't know, but I figure if Fletcher is able to put good defenseman around York, it may be possible. At worst he plays in the 3rd pairing and a player like Sanheim moves into the top 4 if he can further improve.

Right, probably not. So saying he was fired because he was difficult to work with and stubborn is nonsense. It was about winning and management losing patience.

We have the cap space right now to sign a defenseman like Hamilton. And once Jake and JVR are gone, we will have another $10M or so to work with. Trading Ghost gets me another $4.5M in space. |

You'd need to do more than make Jake and JVR magically disappear to make it happen. Hamilton's gonna pull down 8-9M+ just by himself. Wanna extend Ekjesus? $7M+. Goal-scoring winger? Another $7-8M+. |

In fact I would argue that Fletcher's two drafts have been even more impactful to the overall organization than Hextall's 5 drafts. In two drafts Fletcher has drafted these players that are already playing in the AHL or are close to being ready to join the AHL:
2020 Entry 23 1 Tyson Foerster R Barrie Colts - jd250[OHL]
2020 Entry 54 2 Emil Andrae D HV71 Jrs. (Sweden)
2020 Entry 94 4 Zayde Wisdom R Kingston Frontenacs [OHL]
2019 Entry 14 1 Cam York D U.S. National Development Team [USHL]
2019 Entry 34 2 Bobby Brink R Sioux City Musketeers [USHL]
2019 Entry 72 3 Ronnie Attard D Tri-City Storm [USHL]
2019 Entry 103 4 Mason Millman D Saginaw Spirit [OHL]
well 2020 had alot to do with Covid and no junior

Again, we're not even in a hockey realm here. We're in a common sense realm. None of these players are even in the NHL yet you claim they have made more of an impact on the organization than the players Hextall drafted who are actually in the NHL? I really wonder what kind of logic or should I say lack of is involved here. It's ridiculous and hysterical. - MJL
I understand what your point was JD. I don't like to argue for the sake of arguing. Point was Hextalls drafts were over rated.

Right, but some of these players have proven they can play at the AHL level. In a way Covid has actually helped here.

We'll see. Many fans are making the mistake of overreacting to this season. Let's hope the Flyers don't.

I agree. York should at least start the year with phantoms and progress from there. I have no expectations of York filling a spot in the Defense next year |

I find it amazing how your stance on how you form an opinion on young players constantly flip flops. There is no rhyme or reason to it. We can add it to the list of things you actually don't know. Including the NHL trade landscape and the salary cap. - MJL
Where is the flip flop? Its a projection. I hope York might be able to make the team next year. We'll see how he does in the AHL and the off season, and then figure it out from there.

York is leap frogging Sanheim as well haha. I thought MJL might have just not liked you but you really have been posting ridiculous things and now I understand why he keeps responding. This is insanity |

I also think many fans over reacted to them last year. Which are the real flyers, last years run, or this year? So far there has been more bad games than good games the last 2 years. Not sure why you think its an over reaction? This could be who they really are as a group.

Those names look good, time will tell. The ones I'm not sure about are Andrae and Brink, but I think we have some nhlers with the other ones. Not exactly stars, but Hextalls weren't either. - bradster
Other than York don't believe any have "star" potential. Some may be steady midrange productive NHLrs but that's the problem. With G being the exception, nobody on this team has been feared by the opposition for A very very long time. |

Wake up jd, wake up. You're dreaming! - MJL
Ok, what is your plan then? Oh I forgot, its have an off season and practice more, keep the same players and hope with more practice things get better. Oh and draft and develop.
This roster needs to be overhauled and this is not an overreaction of this season, its an opinion that comes from the culmination of several seasons of mediocrity and only 1 playoff series win! That is the reality whether you want to face it or not.
Now who is dreaming?

The overreaction is thinking that the Flyers young players aren't good players and won't be good players.
Yet, we see a list of Flyers prospects not in the NHL. They're all going to be really good and are making a bigger impact on the organization.

No one is saying York has leap frogged anyone. I was actually thinking to make a real hockey trade Sanheim or Myers would most likely be part of it.
