I still miss the Tie Domi, Dave Manson, Joey Kocur, Rob Ray, Probert, etc. types. When they went at it, it was exciting. The arena just exploded. - NYRCeph
Those battles… straight up battles. The sport goong away from having enforcers has its plus and minuses. However, guys like Gretzky cant deny that player like McSorley made their lives so much easier. |

No I didn't. I'll have to look that up.
Those guy's fights were just mean. Today's fights pale in comparison by a large margin. The league things goals sells....while I agree. I also agree that on ice justice with tough guys also sells. I bet even in todays fufu world. - NYRCeph
Totally. Aren't many knock down drag out pummelings any more, guys don't fight like that any more.
Was thinking about the elimination of the two-line pass rule today. If that wasn't in existence during Gretz and Mess's heydays, can you imagine the points they would have? |

In the open style and the lack of being able to stick check... all those players would have been monster point getters.
You look at the top of the lists and that era still houses the best. So why change what worked. Doesn't make sense to me. |

VPN and NHL TV...Zero black out issues. I just set my VPN to Canada if there is a local NBC game. |

I don't think Mr. Lady Byng would deny that at all.
Nowadays you also have to be able to play, that's why guys like Wilson are a premium.
Hoped we had our Wilson in Lemieux, but alas, haven't missed him at all. Smith has stepped up again. |

Lemieux was definitely an addition by subtraction situation. |

When the Devils went to the LW Lock and Trap, along with all that clutching and grabbing goals were way down so they changed the rules.
Worst rule change was The Trapezoid. As much as I despise Uncle Daddy, he was a great puck handler in the corner so they took away one of his greatest strengths.
Okay, so you are protected in the Crease, if you want to add the trapezoid for protection behind the net, fine. If the goalie wants to play the puck in the corners, make him fair game. That is the one rule I would change if I could. |

From Sam's Wikipedia page. Anyone have his families number?
Rosen has been told by the Rangers he can continue his position as long as he wishes. He has asked his family to inform him if they feel he is losing his edge due to age but is encouraged that Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully was still considered a top broadcaster when he retired at age 88.
Edit: To be fair (run with it ), they are watching the games from the studio so they aren't able to follow as closely. On that I give them a break. Although I am looking forward to more Blackwell/Blackwood's over the next 3 games. |

WTF? They should create a position in the studio for him. Just let someone else do the play by play.
Also, baseball v. hockey. You can't compare the pace of the two. What a ridiculous comparison. |

Agreed. They played with the rules so much then that it was a joke. Trying so hard to fix something, only to create more issues. Was a joke.
Private Internet Access. Not the most glamorous VPN, nor the fastest. But they don't log or track anything, like some well known VPNs (which they aren't supposed to). I am locked into a good yearly rate. But they are still cheaper than the big dogs. |

Remember Sal's takes? Let him do that and give the job to Kenny. |

It is scary to think who will be his successor. Remember, there are a hell of a lot more terrible play-by-play announcers than there are good ones. So we could end up stuck with a (frank) nut announcer we hate, and wish we had Sam's dementia back. |

I think that's the best solution. It probably won't happen for awhile though. |
