and a powerplay goal here and there
- senstroll

Once that gets going, they should go on another run.

If they want to take a shot at the cup, they need to clean this small stuff up before the playoffs.

pretty boring overall. leafs looked sloppy.
couldn't get anything going through the NZ..miss Willie in a game like that.

Rittich was decent, didnt give me a nervous feeling like every shot is going in

I thought they adjusted and accepted playing boring playoff hockey. They didn’t try to score off rushes and were more patient moving the puck up the ice. They missed Willie in terms of D zone exits and O zone entries. Simmonds constantly failed to make entries. This was definitely a Foligno type game.

All things that need to be cleaned up to go to the next level. Or not.. jmo

Babcock spent 4/5 years trying to turn MR into a traditional 'shut down / all around' D and it didn't happen. I think Keefe has come in and loosened the reigns and tried to turn him back into that all offence all the time Rover that he wants to be.

Keefe has Muzzin/Holl to play in defensive situations and so he's shifted MR's usage. tonnes of Ozone starts, etc....

I want him to make better decisions defensively but maybe more important for me is that his offensive contributions are not where they need to be given the situations he's being put in (5v5 ozone, PP, etc...). I can live with the defensive miscues as long as he's producing like an elite offensive producer. Right now he's subpar 5v5 and PP right now ...can't have it.

Tyson Barrie is in a similar role in EDM and is outproducing him (at 5v5 and PP).

Rielly is not the new whipping boy. He's always been the same guy. Elite skating, vision and passing and a liability defensively. It is what it is but he needs produce a lot more because that's his value.

Load management time is here. I assume JTh and WS and Spezza will get a lot of nights of rest over the next month. Hopefully that gets them (JTh and WS) back to where they were early in the year.

I'd be giving Muzzin and Holl some breathers too. Leafs v. Habs is almost a lock so time to maximize health.

Leafs can't have nice things. Rielly is second on the team in PP points. Has as many points as Willie. Plays 24 minutes a night. Makes 5.5mil. Is a +16. Goal differential of 50-32. Isn't perfect and I'd like him to be better defensively sure.

Run him outta town.

The bonus is Tavares has really picked up his game and Hyman well he has been Hyman. If Foligno comes in and plays like Hyman he will make a huge difference.
Willie coming back and fitting in Nash , Hutton , Rittich.
The pp is the real problem right now.
