how are the leafs a winner?
they gave up 1/3 of their draft picks over the next 2 seasons, and got a 3rd liner and 2 guys who will routinely be healthy scratched or on the taxi squad.
they massively overpaid for average to mediocre assets that in no way put them 'over the top" - haywoodjablome
Because half the people who read his silly blogs are Leaf fans and he needs the hits to justify having all these stupid pop up adds he has now |

Yeah but the NMC came from him too, so not sure we can absolve him of all responsibility on this one - eichiefs9
Oh I agree the contract was not good.
But now, with "sunk costs"... do you finish paying him for rest of season and watch him leave for nothing? Or get something?
I have no idea if Lazar impacts this trade one way or another... is lazar better than a 2nd round pick + Bjork?

In your unbiased opinion, lol
Leafs did extremely well, so did Detroit and the Islanders. Biggest losers were EDM and WPG for doing nothing, and BUF and PHI for doing next to nothing, and getting underwhelming assets back for the few players they did move out - AxlRose91
So... does this put the Bruins in your "Win" column?

Fine with doing nothing and not losing all those picks. Jets are going to let their young players develop. We are not a contender yet but getting close.
We had our big deal this year with Columbus for PLD. And so far it’s working out alright for the Jets. Let’s see what the playoffs bring
BTW capitals did basically nothing on the trade deadline the year they won the cup! |

I honestly think WPG was smart. Benn is a solid depth addition. Could you guys use a major upgrade to D? Sure, but I still think this helps.
Caps basically did nothing this year except make a lateral move and ship out good futures

Not a leaf fan but Foligno is the kind of guy you want in the post-season, he lead that charge that dismantled Tampa a few a years ago and the shutdown line against TO last year. - Alexzanki

Hall didn’t accept a trade anywhere else but Boston thus the underwhelming package. Should call ourselves lucky to even get what we got.
What I don’t understand is why would you give a player like Hall a NTC on a one year contract? Completely baffles me. |

The NMC was probably the only way they could sign him. That being said, Adams should have told him to allow a trade to more teams, or he would be staying in Buffalo all season.
I don't understand how the Blackhawks are not winners when they A) got more for Janmark than Buffalo got for Hall, and B) didn't trade anyone who had a future with them for several picks and a couple lottery ticket prospects. |

While I agree 100% Adams did have another option - let Hall play out the season in Buffalo. He was getting screwed either way but I think letting Hall play out his contract would have been less bad.
I think the Islanders made the biggest improvement at the deadline. They are going to be very tough in the playoffs. - PghPens668771
Agreed
You don't trade a player like Hall just because, let alone to your rival unless they overpay.
Now Adams has a pansy GM label that future GMs can take advantage of.
Screw the second round pick.
Should have seen if he could adapt to Granato's coaching
Sabres...What a fn mess |

THIS season Bruins and Sabers are not rivals. And after this Hall is a free agent.
You actually think Hall would re-sign in Buff with the way things have gone this season?

Bruins are always the Sabres rivals. I realize Sabres are just a team on the Bruins schedule.
And yes you let Hall walk and establish yourself as a GM with Diamond Hands. Second round pick likely will be garbage. Sabres have stockpiled picks with no success for last 10 years.
Ya you NO return but establish yourself as a GM that you can't let players or other teams dictate the price. It would pay off next trade deadline.
Kevin Adams CRUMBLED for a second round pick and will never be taken seriously at the poker table

I mean you can't even spell Sabres correctly so just shows how much Bruins and their fans think of Buffalo

The biggest trade deadline loser is Eklund. Not only did he get nothing right but many of his roomers were flat out denied by gms. Holland flat out said they didn’t have a single conversation about Hall but Ek was adamant that they were one of the 3 top teams in on him. |
