Like you I think DeHaan has been very average this season and I’m certainly no DeHaan apologist. I didn’t realize he was injured. But very few defensemen, even healthy would have had a chance in that situation. ADB gave up pursuit at the opposition blueline. Dach didn’t have a good angle because he came from the far boards plus he gave up pursuit at center. The lack of forward support from center didn’t allow the defensemen to stand up at the blueline to close the gap to Laine and instead had to backpedal furiously. While DeHaan isn’t a good defenseman he can’t be fully blamed for Laine’s incredible goal.

I yam what I yam...

Surprised you guys would want to claim GP. I tend to agree with Mo in that he's probably a transplanted NY'er.

I think he might actually live in Rockford.

Maybe next time Ogi is in Alberta he can fly GP back to New York? If Ogi isn’t scheduled to land at JFK maybe he can decrease altitude to allow GP to jump?

Hmmm...that would be interesting now wouldn't it? One sure way to find out. Say "Hi" to him every morning and see how upset he gets.

Roslovic was 20% at the dot last night, ouch

Dach might of not played his best game last night but he competed. Kid goes to the boards, to the front of the net, hustles back on defense.

- BetweenTheDots

I thought he looked out of sorts all night. Not sure if he still getting game legs but he was wandering all over ice last night like he was on a free skate.
The only time he seemed engaged is when the puck was on his stick. I only noticed because it was so out of usual for him.

That seems cruel and unusual to Ogi and a whole half cabin of socially distanced passengers. Maybe he could fly in the cargo hold or wheel well. They could fly over the Hudson and pitch him in that.

Why was DeHaan beaten so easily? As usual you focus on one small part of the play and not the whole play. First of all sometimes you have to give credit for a great play. However there is almost always a mistake even when a great play occurred.

I’ll again challenge you, though you seldom respond to challenges.

Why was DeHaan caught flat footed?

Why was DeHaan not closing the gap on Laine?

Answer those questions and you find the mistake.

de Haan sucks but that is another issue. Dinky screwed that up 200 feet from his own net. He chased Laine around the net with no support at all. Someone, anyone had to step in and stop the puck. Everyone just backed away giving Laine clear sailing the whole way. Blaming just a d-man looking at a guy coming at him in full flight is wrong.

I used to laugh at that and the snide “hi Eli” imagining how furious it was making Eli and JJ.

Priceless. I remember one time we didn't have to imagine as Eli (GP) just lost his poop at Ogi...for saying "Hi"...

That’s the way I saw it.

Imagine if Stillman had realized Laine was going to cut across the goal and turned in to step into him?!?! That would have been a seismic hit!

So pitching him out over the Hudson's a go then right?

Actually deHaan played it almost perfectly he missed the poke check, game of inches, and you're right it was a very nice play by Laine.

He kind of did, he was steering him towards the boards but he saw an opportunity to poke check it and missed, which immediately put him a step behind and it looks like he tried to pivot but he has a bad hip and all
