Why are we ripping on the 20 year old Dach already? He just came back from MAJOR wrist surgery. Oh and he is 20 years old. 5pts in 9 games isn't too shabby all things considered.

AGAIN he is 20 years old. 99.9% of guys with his skill and age are either playing in the AHL or College or in Europe still. Maybe let the kid figure it out a bit.

Edit: That was not directed at you Theo!

Because Nylander and Zadorov weren't dressed to pick on.

You know this group. Even in a win there needs to be a whipping boy.

I suspect Riley Stillman may be filling that role quite frequently in the future.

any idea when Adam is going to make it to CHICAGO i think he is out of covid protocal? probably needs some time on the ice to get up to speed.

https://canucksarmy.com/2...no-good-reason-trade-him/

here is a good article. be nice to have him get a full offseason of training. sounds like he is just getting the eating and weight issue under control.

reichel, Bromberg, nylander, Guadette (I actually think he gets taken by Seattle) if just a few of those guys hit were they can be true top 9 players we could be back int he playoff mix next year. Im sure the ZAD trade the value was driven down because how many teams have a extra slot for EXP draft. 3 D is pretty tight. not sure why Colton player Dehaan if he was still hurt? ZAD, Beudin, mitchel should have been in the lneup IMO. with shalnuv coming off a great KHL playoff do we bring him in? if not can we trade his rights? also if Teows does not come back next year we would have a extra spot for a Forward. it would be a waste to use it on kampf I would probably try and trade for one of the better exposed forwards Maybe use 1 of our 4ths for that. Zad might have more value after the EXP draft to a team that loses a good player.

I'm sure he also probably meant Shalunov and not Shalnuv, but way to show some restraint.

Welcome to the BOD where a 20 year old can be written off, by some, after a bad shift let alone a bad game. Look no further than ADB who has rebounded from an OK season where the BOD members and ledge creatures were calling for him to be traded.

Since I was one who criticized hm:

Who exactly is writing him off?

Being critical of his play is not the same as giving up on him - only pointing out where we think he could - and should - improve, especially considering his improved play in the bubble last fall.

My only criticism is this board when talking about potential lines, and who we should look to draft/trade for talk about Dach as a #1 or #2 center. He might be a #1/#2 center in 2-3 years, but he currently is way away's from that IMO. In fact, I have been saying he would be a terrific power forward ala Blake Wheeler (center drafted #1 who didn't find his game until moved to right wing). I just do not see him as a center.

If he were to move to right wing (no small coincidence), could you see him as perhaps a young version of Marian Hossa?

Same reason as the Oilers moving Drasiatl to wing from center, I think he is way better being a north/south power player than east/west more edge work type of player

How about my comparison of Blake Wheeler. 20-25 goals, about 80 points responsible defensively. I hate comparing players to HOF'ers

I hope he does become a #1 center, I have no negatives about him, just my untrained observation.

This is from Top Shelf prospects during his draft year:

At 6-foot-4 Dach has the size to be a powerful centre. Dach takes the puck to the net and is more likely to go through a defender than to try and make a deke to get around him. He is very tough to contain on the cycle, as he protects the puck well and this allows him to extend plays down low and wait for a teammate to get open or for an opposing defender to get out of position. Dach has very good vision and passing skills. He finds open teammates and sets them up for scoring chances in tight.

I'm apparently only able to make comparisons to Hoss as per instruction from the resident troll from GP, AB.

Come on Sage you know what I mean. Criticizing is one thing and you can reasonably discuss that. But there is a segment on here who give up on a player, especially a young player and start suggesting trades for him.

I see your point, Dach isn’t as finished at his position as say Toews was at 20. However where the Hawks at that time needed Toews to be a center man right away this team can wait to see if Dach can grow into the position. There’s plenty of time to move him to wing but when that happens it’s likely he’ll never get the opportunity to go back to center.

This is a big reason why I really dislike moving an 18 or 19 year old straight to the NHL. Yes, Dach had a decent rookie season but I believe he should have stayed in junior another year to fully learn his game and position. Also in junior he becomes and learns leadership skills and has an opportunity to learn to win on his junior team and possibly as a member of the WJC team. And while there are players who can make the jump as an 18 year old, some players need additional time in junior/college/minors before they are ready to play in the NHL.

Thanks good read. I was browsing some of their fan base comments and it sounds like he has offense, but not good defensively or on face offs. If his health issues are resolved and he can put on about 11 KG’s (for our north of the border friends), maybe he will be more willing to engage defensively. I like this trade, heck I would have taken a bag of pucks for Highmore. This is a no risk maybe good reward trade, time will tell. Feed that boy some midwestern steaks and have him hit the weight room.
