I doubt it had anything to do with the habs, or any other team for that matter.
My guess it was the money. |

He'd stand to lose about 2.5 million bucks minus whatever the Habs we're gonna pay him... could have built his value back up and got more in the offseason as opposed to just sitting. |

$9.6 m, even after NY taxes is enough to create generational wealth. Under no circumstances do you leave a cent on the table when there is no guarantee you'll be made whole. The guy might be a giant bag of d but he's making the right choice for himself and his family here |

Actually I'm wrong, the 2.5 is if he's bought out, he loses about 6 if he agrees to terminate |

gotta admit that's a ton of money, it would be hard to refuse it in the hopes that he can redeem himself after that and get another substantial contract with another team (which would most likely be way less money)

Even take a step outside ourselves, our egos, our pride. He has the ability to take care of mom and dad, his potential kids, etc.
I love hockey but the decision wouldn't even take me a half second |

that's like people blaming Joe Rogan for letting spotify remove certain episodes from the platform... yes I'm sure all those SJWs would refuse 100 million dollars.

Rogan already had generational wealth and built his following on the idea he could do or say anything, approach any topic or subject and nobody could tell him no. Spotify added an extra 0 to his cheque and he literally sold out. I'm not judging him, it's an amount of money that 15 generations of his family later will be able to live off of, assuming the planet makes it that far. But it's not even close to apples to apples and Rogan is a sell out but I'm not angry at him for doing so |

Part of being a sports fan in salary cap world's is wanting players to take less to play for the team a fan cheers for. But truth is it's a crazy selfish expectation that those same fans wouldn't even consider for a second if the shoe was on the other foot. I've always believed a player should try to get as much as they can any chance they can because team's will move on from the player the second it is advantageous for them. It's a business, players should treat it as such |

I liked Bergevin's sarcastic answer concerning Mete yesterday...
-reporter: so were there teams around the league that made any offers for Mete?
-Marc: yes, I was offered a 1st rounder but I decided to put him on waivers instead
-reporter: so, I guess that's a "no"..?
-Marc: yeah, that would be a no.
- Pat1993

Yeah this guy has jello between his ears. This trade has been a great one so far, always been an Anderson fan but he is doing great so far, what a shot again yesterday |
