I liked Bergevin's sarcastic answer concerning Mete yesterday...
-reporter: so were there teams around the league that made any offers for Mete?
-Marc: yes, I was offered a 1st rounder but I decided to put him on waivers instead
-reporter: so, I guess that's a "no"..?
-Marc: yeah, that would be a no.

did he confirm that himself? - Pat1993
Dreger seems pretty sure about it... had DeAngelo agreed to terminate, Bergy was ready to pounce, obviously DeAngelo has no interest in playing for the Habs or he would have been released...now he's getting bought out after the season

Calvaire, je peux pas croire que Bergevin se soit réellement intéressé à un gars aussi problématique... - Habsody
moi non plus, mais il s'est sûrement dit que son groupe de leadership est tellement fort qu'il serait capable de le "discipliner" loll

Like I said yesterday... because of the timing of the 2 moves, you have to believe Bergy offered Yzerman Mete for Merrill but Stevie Y opted for a 5th rounder instead, tells you everything you need to know |

but is he even in a position to reject offers from other teams right now? sounds like a very special fella

we'll see how he does in Ottawa I guess... he played 9:43 yesterday, zeros across the board, but it was his first game there so they'll give him his "chance" |

He makes a lot more money by waiting to be bought out. Considering his career is hanging by a tread that’s a smart move from that moron lol |

Have you seen him make a complete ass of himself against Chicago?
What an idiot.

He gets all his money if he doesn't agree to termination. Montreal wasn't paying him what he'd get from the Rangers and Tony D is a very strong pro USA right wing guy, doesn't seem like the type to want to move to french Canada but that's an assumption on my part |

Yeah, being an bumhole is not a breach of contract, so he'll keep getting paid.

He’s in the first year of a 9.6m contract.
I’d wait too. |

but if he refuses other offers, he might not be making that much money once he's bought out, right? unless there are a bunch of teams that still have interest...

That's what I mean, he obviously doesn't wanna play in Montreal, he chose to not play this season instead...fawk him! |

The interest he'll get is likely a league minimum contract.
That'd be a huge gamble on his part that things work out.
