He is a fit on wing, we also cannot have 4 youngsters centreing our lines, we lack depth and experience in that position
- habs88888

Meh.

Eric Staal has plenty of experience.

And so far, his OT goal aside, he has been very underwhelming, imo.

I think that was pat.

if I recall correctly Pete, I was more on Phil's side in the "great Danault debate", so I doubt I'd be saying such a thing...

Well perhaps.

But he's playing well at centre right now. So that's more because of the team's need than the player's ability.

I expect Staal to show his true worth when the games really matter

I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt for now. The quarantine and the Buffalo effect has to wear off.

But.... I hope he does "turn it on" a little.

The whole team has been lately, now on the 2 Leaf goals last night he did win the draw so he did his job. I expect him to be better down the stretch

I don’t think they will resign Staal so depth in the middle is key, they may get another veteran in off season

Well he improved considerably since last season.

He might not be ready now.... but in the near future? Maybe.

- Scabeh

Danault is a top10 finalist for the Selke. Poehling will probably be ready to make the team next fall, but that would be asking alot. if the goal s to make the playoffs... not sure that's the way to go.

I agree.

Best scenario is Danault staying.

At the right price...

Poehling will take Lehkonen's spot, not Danault's

Who else is ready from forward that can make pro next year? Not including Caufield

Yup.

Ylonen is probably the closest after that.

It's really too bad Harris didn't turn pro.

We need him, Norlinder and Struble sooner than later.

Just no room for him... wondering what Bergy plans on doing with Perry after this year... I'm sure what happens over the next few weeks will play a part in determining that

That’s true too but I do feel good about it, plus Armia, Chiarot and Price back this week
- habs88888

So Chariot would have been out for only 4 weeks ?

Armia, not sure where he fits...

Assume Lek, Armia , Byron, Staal and Perry not back but we keep Tatar, Danault and not trade Drouin it will be

Tatar Danault Gallagher
Toffoli KK Caufield
Drouin Suzuki Anderson
Poehling Evans TBD

Likely needs a veteran centre to compliment Evans, maybe Glendening?

kids will push vets out. if Ylonen is ready, they will find him a spot. maybe a RW will have to play on the left side, or a trade will happen. Tatar is still not signed. Drouin could be moved...
as for Perry, he will probably be last on the summer do to list of MB. I would like him to be back.

I had high hopes for Harris to be with the team next season.

But yeah, since none of them are joining the team before next season... they are by definition "a year or two" away.

Agreed. Lots of decisions remaining.

At this point, I don't see how they don't bring Perry back.
