Since we didn’t get a left wing, if Zucker-McCann-Carter ends up looking good, I might be on the Grinder train of looking at Zohorna on Malkin’s left when Geno and Kapanen get back. I know Rodrigues did ok there for a while, but may as well see if Zohorna has any actual upside or if he’s just pulling a Marc Donk and scoring a couple goals during injury call up and then riding off into the sunset. - Victoro311
That's what I'm thinking. Once Kap is back get him with Zohorna then get Geno centering them. Worst case scenario is Tanev might play with Geno-Kap if the other three lines are good to go. Which isn't too bad. We've seen worse. |

I'd understand Vrana + 2nd RP for Mantha.....maybe the 1st RP instead. Big plus for Yzerman.
Btw, I read some of the exchange you had with the Wings blogger lol |

Tanev and Kap are both right wingers. I don’t know if either of them have ever played their off wing. |

Never gets old. Ideal world:
Rust-Crosby-Guentzel
McCann-Malkin-Kapanen
Zucker-Blueger-Carter
Tanev-Gaudreau-AstonReese
Angello-Rodrigues-Sceviour
Lafferty-Jankowski-Zohorna
I thought Gaudreau played so well with Tanev and AstonReese that we didn't need Blueger there. I'd put either to play with Zucker and Carter. It will be a good line regardless.
HEALTH is all we need. |

Z seemed to float around a little more the last two games, but I'm sure part of that is still adjusting. I'm curious to see him next to Geno though as he could elevate his game and energy. He quietly makes good decisions with the puck, reacts quickly and keeps his game simple which I think is something that works when playing with Geno. |

Yea but Tanev is a lefty I figure he could play over on the LW and Lap stays on the RW. Just a thought. |

He plays right wing here mostly. But being a left shot he obviously can play left wing. |

After seeing Iginla being forced to play his off wing I don't like to get into this kind of discussion anymore lol |

I was gonna say that haha. But being a lefty it should be easy for him regardless haha. |

Yeah and I don’t mean that as a knock on Tanev. Dump and chase/forechecking hockey can be done from either side. |

I definitely get it for sure. And it's also not ideal for Tanev to play with Geno and Kap, but it was just a thought since all three of them are out. IF the other three lines are all playing well, don't break them up right before the playoffs. |

So, not trying to spin the steep price, but Vrana + Panik cover's Mantha's contract, and then some, like 400K. The thinking is that the 1st was the very stupid price to pay to "upgrade" to Mantha over Vrana, and the 2nd was so they took Panik's contract. Cost certainty for the next 4-5 years I think weighed into it, giving the Caps more room for Ovi's next stupid ass contract.
Essentially, all in for the twilight of Ovi/Backstrom's career, into irrelevant basement dwellers again soon.
I would have a thought a package of a 1st+ Vrana would have netted a better player. |

I dunno. You guys probably could have bribed Seattle with a 2nd to take Panik off your hands, kept your 1st and Vrana. I doubt Vrana makes more than Mantha's current contract when he extends.

Ultimately I think Sully will misuse Blueger as a shut down center instead of scoring 3c.
Playoff wise I’d have ZAR - Gaudreau - Tanev stapled to the bench.
Mix in ZAR for pk and defensive situations.
Mix in Tanev for an energy spark. |

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see Mantha on the Pens and hate to see him going to Wash but you lost too much in Vrana/1st RP and 2nd RP. The word amongst Wings fans is that Mantha looks lazy at times and isn't exactly earning his paycheck of almost $6M per.
Ovi and Backs should take a paycut if they are serious about winning the cup again. |

From what I gathered. Lavi is an idiot that didn’t like Vrana and the pro for the caps is basically cost certainty. |

Lavy hated Vrana. Wasn't going to work.
Also, kind of need Seattle to take Oshie's contract. |
