they're good enough to make the playoffs.... in the canadian division!
under normal circonstances, not sure they finish ahead of TOR, BOS, TB and FLA. - fidopro
I'm sure where they'd finish in that group |

I'm glad we won't send Mete out there anymore.
The added guys can help.
But god dammit, we could have had Taylor Hall for a 2nd and a prospect.
Would have been the best 2nd and a prospect trade since Kovalev! - Scabeh
Apparently he had an NMC according to the Bruins blogger, doubt he wanted to come. I didn't know about the NMC either. |

Not sure Carolina is in a hurry to do a deal with the Habs either - Takemedrunkimhome
They did already, no? Bergy made a deal with them after the offer sheet, can't remember who now |

On serait plus stable si on était moins POCHE. - Scabeh
L'erreur de Bergevin a été de mal préparer l'après Markov. En échangeant Sergachev en plus...on s'est retrouvé avec des Alzner, Schlemko, Ouellet, Davidson, etc. |

Why the (frank) are you talking about crystal balls? I'm using my eyes and my head to tell me they aren't good enough, I don't consider winning a round or two much of a success story. If your opinion is different than mine fair enough, but Bergevin clearly doesn't think much of them either by his reluctance to trade anything of value. - apex123
So... fair to assume you won't be watching the playoffs? Since you already know the outcome and all? |

you can't win the Stanley Cup at the deadline, but you sure can lose it and boy o boy i've never seen a team lose as bad as montreal has today. what the team did today may have set them back years if not decades. major changes are needed.

Not that they won't, just not in a hurry. The Habs could have probably beat a 6th and a guy enjoying his cup of coffee if they really wanted him |

In his defense...Edmonton, Buffalo, NJ and Arizona weren't exactly model franchises before his arrival |

Man.... There were plenty of guys I would have liked to grab and we ended up with 2 guys that bring very little in terms of upgrade.
Fleury, Murray, MANTHA would have been great. - Scabeh
I don’t see how Hayden Fleury would be an upgrade over Gustaffson, depending on which Gustafson we get I would say that is equally as good as Murray. I wonder what DET would take from us to give us Mantha? Don’t think any of Tatar, Danault, Drouin would work |

Vrana is a real good player + a 1st and I forget what the 3rd piece is... but Washington got Mantha, not sure they won the trade though |

So, there's good enough to make the playoffs and "from there who knows?" and good enough to be considered a betting favourite, a true contender. There aren't often a lot of players available to make the former into the latter. There tend to be more depth and role players available for the latter to use in the war of attrition that is the playoffs. My opinion at least - Takemedrunkimhome
My main issue is they have been following that model for the last 10 years+. |

I have very little faith in Gustaffson.
The idea of having the Fleury Brothers was nice.
Murray would have been an immediate upgrade in the top 4.
