that's for the old NHL. The Babcocks and the Tortarellas of the league are getting to get pushed out. Ruff has been doing it right. He keeps the kids accountable for their play but he also gives them a fair shot to prove themselves on the ice. They still play hard and they know they are out of the lineup if they don't perform. They don't need some guy screaming at them or benching them for a minor mistake. - Pomegrant
Agreed.
I think a Cooper kind of coach could work.

I know what you mean but it's hard to say 'Poor Taylor' when Buffalo just dropped $8M for 2 goals and 17 assist.
After saying the winning was too important to him to stay in New Jersey, Hall decided the money WAS more important than winning and went to one of the worst franchises you can find.
I actually really liked Taylor Hall when he was hear and I don't blame him for not wanting to stay. But I think we got really lucky we didn't sign this guy for 7 years.... - Queenie_5_hole
Hall never really had the opportunity to play for a winner this offseason though because of the cap. He would have had to take a huge paycut with no long term guarantees which just isn't very smart long term with his injuries. I think he was hoping he would either help transition buffalo into a winning team in which he may have a long term future or at the very least get to play with Eichel and pad his stats for his next contract. He ended up walking in to a dumpster fire and may have got neither out of it, and I still see Boston as 1 and done in the playoffs since they will have to play against either NYI or Washington.
That said I agree, no regrets about trading hall. |

We've only ever see Cooper coach the most stacked team in the league, which we are not even close to. I don't think we need to give up on Ruff so soon either. He has the players playing hard for the most part, we're out chancing teams more often than not, but definitely need some goalscorers and to figure out the special teams. |

I get why the Buffalo situation seemed to make sense and very few UFAs got big money deals last year. So in that respect he did well for himself. I'm just surprised now that he's going to Boston he's talking about being happy not be the main guy. Which is fine but if you want to be paid like the top guy, you have to produce.

I kind of get the feeling he wants to play for Edmonton or Calgary but he doesn't outright say so because his agent tells him to shush. |

I am not rushing Ruff out. I think he has done a great job, frankly.
I just don't think he will be here when we are competitive 2 years from now or so. Or will Recchi take over |

Anyone see Laine's two goals from yesterday?
Holy hell can he bring it.
If he becomes available, I say yes please. |

Yes the Devils need more finishers. We do not know yet if Foote or Holtz are the answer, but we hope they are. Teams rarely trade or let their finishers get to UFA, beacause everyone needs them. That leaves drafting or an offer sheet. The offer sheet historically been a unicorn. The Devils do have the cap room and the picks for offer sheet and there are some great RFA this summer. I just don't think that is the way the Devs go. |

I'd offer one deal to Columbus, if our top pick is OUT of the top 3. If its top 3, we keep it.
Offer that pick, Butcher, Mercer and some clown in Bing. Throw in in a second rounder as well. |

They have yes. They played on the Swiss world junior and u18 teams together and are apparently really good friends. People dug up pictures of them together from back in like 2014 and 2015 |
