I'm not saying we'd be a good team, but if our powerplay and penalty kill were even somewhat competent this team might have won a couple of these close games. |

100%. Theres been too many games this season where we've been the better even strength team but lose because special teams cant get the job done
But again, that goes back to arguably the biggest issue with the makeup of this team. We don't have goal scorers. So even when we control the game at ES, we arent burying as many chances as we should |

Well at least they tried. They do miss Bratt and Zacha, 2 of their top 6 on this mostly AHL club. Looking forward to seeing what Foote can bring. |

I am always in favor of BPA but I'll be a little disappointed if we don't get a Dman. While we still need some help up front, I feel like we are in a much better place to address that with the prospects we have and UFAs. - rmdevil313
The draft rankings seem so all over the place I’m not even sure how they would determine BPA between a defender and a forward. This seems more like picking what horse you want to gamble on.
But to your point, I also like going BPA; but we should grab a defender.
I wouldn’t pass on a better prospect to do this but getting another Hughes would be Huge. |

Hard to have any prospect analysis with how covid affected the leagues and seeing the draft will be pushed back a year this is going to be way out anyway. Weird position we'll be in where we get to see the kids with an extra year of growing and we'll know more about our team's needs at the draft. |

I am afreaid of deja-vu. In 2015 the Devs thought they were stacked with D prospects (at the time Merrill, Gelinas, and Santini) but desperately needed center help. So we passed on the players who were more highly rated, like Provorov and Werenski (next 2 picked) and picked Zacha. My point is pick BPA, it could be a dman, but don't force it to be a dman. And as sesons progress more data/analysis is becoming available on prospects. Also under 18 WJC should be special this year.
Rankings:
Provorov: Central Scouting: 7; ISS Hockey: 7; McKeen’s Hockey: 5; Future Considerations: 6; TSN Bob McKenzie: 8; TSN Craig Button: 5; Sportsnet: 6;
AVERAGE : 6.3
Wernski: Central Scouting: 9 N.A.; ISS Hockey: 11; McKeen’s Hockey: 9; Future Considerations: 7; TSN Bob McKenzie: 11; TSN Craig Button: 7; Sportsnet: 10
AVERAGE: 9.1
Zacha: Central Scouting: 8 N.A.; ISS Hockey: 10; McKeen’s Hockey: 6; Future Considerations: 15; TSN Bob McKenzie: 6; TSN Craig Button: 24; Sportsnet: 8
AVERAGE: 11. |

There were talks about it being an option, but they announced a couple months ago that it wont be pushed back and that it will take place in July |

sucks for us. Feels like we're going in blind with travel restrictions and not being able to scout as freely. |

Eh, it's not as blind as some would think, especially at the top. Later into the 1st and into deeper rounds? Sure, but the top 8-10 or so are generally consensus for the most part. Just in different orders
Thats what i like about this draft and why im happy we got another 1st. If teams do their homework there are going to be a ton of later steals, more so than usual most likely. So if we keep the pick and use it, there's good talent to be had |

We'll have a good pick so it won't be as much of a problem, I'm just worried about the later rounds in which you needed a lot of luck to do well in the first place but now might be even tougher. Seems like good teams always find gems to fill out their rosters where we have been in organizational depth hell for a long time.
Foote playing today. Excited to see him play. |
