Would have been nice to have gotten anything for vats
- dmarsden2988

I know. Seems like bad asset management to me just to let him walk for nothing

Somehow this deadline is still somewhat disappointing. For example, if at the start of this season you knew the Devils were sellers and were told that Palms, Zajac, Vats, Gusev, Kulikov got a 1st and two conditional 4th rounders return, I imagine most of us would have said "BS". Yes, the season transpired and changed values, but still disappointing.

I mean, Palms really shouldve been traded last deadline. Tons of people wanted it to happen, as most knew his value would decrease massively if we held onto him. So let's be happy we're still walking away with a 1st at all when its all said and done

I agree, but im sure Fitz wouldve moved him if he got anything of value offered. Theres rumors that Vats had essentially zero interest in the trade market, teams would rather spent a 7th on Coburn instead of him and only wanted him if they couldve had him for free

I know, free agency to replenish vets. I think the rest of the season our D could be a wreck.

Where is Matt Tennyson??

- Devils Advocate

Yeah i could see that, im sure we'll be busy in the offseason. I dont think Murray is moving so i assume he's going to get an extension? Even if its for a year of two

Hindsight is always 20/20

We didn't know Nico was going to be out for pretty much the season, or how the rookies were going to pan out, and no one to replace palms and needed some veteran leadership

I really doubt Murray goes. Vats and Kulikov are already gone, i dont see Fitz moving out half of the D. Plus Murray is on the ice for practice. Hes probably staying

Its not even in hindsight though. Even Todd was writing about it at the deadline that the Devils need to move Palms. Most people were on board with in, because everyone knew we wouldn't get as much value in return. Hindsight just proves they were right.

I still believe Palms was gone if Fitz didn't get that offer for Coleman that was too good to pass on

Sens claim Mete. Stars claim Vatanen
- vlongo4419

That brutal. You would think if someone claims him a 2M, we could have gotten something back with salary retained...... Best of luck Vats. Was happy you came back for a victory lap, and leaving us with Kuokk and Daws sure was nice.

Kuli received a solid return. I wasn't expecting a potential 3rd to come back our way for him. 4th at worst. Good trade.

Is it safe to say that if Murray is not moved, Devs have a verbal agreement to re-sign him after the expansion draft?

Safe? I would doubt it. If he gets to free agency he might as well listen to all offers and not just focus on the Devs offer.

Poor Taylor Hall, he's going to have the saddest NHL career of all time. Also, surprised the Avs aren't more active. Feels like they should be loading up for a run.

I know what you mean but it's hard to say 'Poor Taylor' when Buffalo just dropped $8M for 2 goals and 17 assist.

After saying the winning was too important to him to stay in New Jersey, Hall decided the money WAS more important than winning and went to one of the worst franchises you can find.

I actually really liked Taylor Hall when he was hear and I don't blame him for not wanting to stay. But I think we got really lucky we didn't sign this guy for 7 years....

Hey seeing as we just got even younger do you guys think Ruff is still the answer for coach of this team?

Does he wanna come back? He is really starting to age behind the bench, hope he is OK.
So much cap room. So little enticing in FA for this team's time horizon, unless Hamilton gets to the market. Hopefully Fitz and owners have a plan to deploy that cap space efficiently. UFA usually not the way to build out a team. Perhaps a RFA possibility?

Makes sense the Sens claimed Mete. Was hoping we got him but that was wishful thinking.

Vats... gone. Kulikov... gone. Subban... injured. Zacha... injured. We've gone from a very bad team to an even worse team over night. Watching the remaining games is going to be an exercise in pain.

Likely looking at a D of:

Murray-Subban
Smith- Sevo
Siegenthaler- Butcher(both can play the right side)

Maybe someone gets called up? Tenny, Carrick, Jacobs, White, slim pickings. None of the kids should be brought up, keep em all in Bingo

I agree, if we can ice something decent Id rather the young D get more ice time in Bingo.

There are a few stud D in the draft... Maybe one last top pick for memories sake?
