The whole teams 1st period wasn’t very good. Too many blind passes to the front of the net, I thought coaches drilled “don’t pass it in front of your net” since BumbleBee
- Garnie

There were blind passes everywhere.

It was Spezzapalooza out there.

Robertson looked nervous. He would make a slick move, shed a guy, and then immediately give it away on a blind pass. He looks like he will be a good one, but last night was growing pains, only without that dreamboat Kirk Cameron pushing Jesus on us.

Well how else are they supposed to play the Leafs?

They'd get blown out the water in an open style game.

- Scabeh

We would be fine with that.

Trade Deadline has passed a few minutes, and the boyzz stop skating.
What a joke.
Can't even lead the NHL in points..
At least Campbell is aware his effort was off.

Yep

And odd man rushes always seem to be our Achilles’ heel, that and Rielly seems like he’s never been taught how to defend them.

The way Anderson just flew by Tavares who just couldn't catch up.

they have to fix their pp , they are 9-1-1- with the leagues worst pp right now.
Bring in Sandin and replace Reilly on pp and please no big Joe on it.

Or Simmonds but bringing in Sandin is a bit of a stretch

In 12 games since his return, Simmonds has a goal and two assists.

He's not getting it done.

I gotta say, how hard is he gonna take a playoff loss?
- Scabeh

I was never a Chris Osgood fan. But the one thing I always admired about him was his ability to shake off bad goals and bad games. I think he learned it from Mike Vernon when he was a young goalie. It's always "on to the next game." Any successful goalie needs to have short term memory.

Hyman-AM34-Mitch
Chucky-Tavares-Nylander
Foligno-Kerfoot-Soup (Shutdown line)
Spezza-Nash*-Simmonds
Thornton/Engvall

* Maybe Nash moves up with Foligno and Kerf?

Simmonds I think you swap in and out of the lineup with Engvall or Thornton (who I think gets a playoff look but will be largely a healthy scratch).

He’s had a couple bad games but i’d still rather the giraffe at 3c

Hyman Engvall Mikey

Put Lou Foligno with the Matthews line.

That’s my 2 cents

I kinda' felt the same but then I thought about it and wondered if it was more that many of these odd man rushes seem to end up as goals (regardless of who is in net) and because of that we think there are too many odd man rushes?

I'd be interested in knowing if the Leafs give up more/less or about the same as other teams. I couldn't find any stats in my quick google check search.

I will say the Leafs give up way too many odd man rushes when they are on the terrible power play. Maybe they should just go simple on the pp for awhile and jam up the front of the net with bodies and hammer pucks from the point looking for tips and rebounds and get some ugly PP goals to get that PP going.

There seems to be very minimal outrage on here about the .875 SV % from the Leaf goalie last night which is a nice change.

Last 3 years ( previous to this year ) Andersen had almost 40 more rush attempts against then the #2. Not sure what “rush attempts” qualifys for, but it would be nice to know. Natural stat trick

I think something pretty close to that is the core although it might change a lot depending on who they play and how the game proceeds. They might cannibalize the 4th line (take Nash) and second line (drop Willie) to protect a lead
