He was doing great in Nashville until the whole league voted him most overrated. Hasn't had a good year since. I keep hoping he'll bounce back and find his game but it doesn't seem like that's gonna happen.
- mgriffen

I don't see him ever being what he once was.

But he's quietly having an OK year with the Devils this year.

You willing to give up a first to make that happen?

I could see Dubas getting Vantanen for cheap
- Matthews_Auston

If they want someone as insurance, then yeah along these lines. Oleksiak is more than they need for insurance, he would be if they want to move Dermott out. My guess is insurance.

Well duh. Very few players go from actually playing like crap to being an elite player again outside of injuries. Players have down years outside of one or two players, but even then it's funny things like OV scoring 32 goals was him being done as an elite scorer in the NHL or Doughty having some bad +/- years in LA but still being generally consistent in his points.

He’s a pretty decent human being.
- Woderwick

Reminds me of Stroman.

I've listened to some podcasts with Stroman...it was nice to get a non biased fan/media listen on him. He just really believes in himself and really cares about the work he puts in. Some people dont like people like that.

Subban gives me the same feel.

Great guy. He does plenty for the community where he plays.

Not just with donations too, with visibility and time.

But I can fully understand how working with him on a day-to-day basis can become irritating.

At least he's playing a little better now than last year so maybe he's turning a corner.

- Scabeh

I have tons of respect for the person he is outside of the rink. Strong community priorities amid obvious struggles on the ice. He’ll have a fine career after hockey.

If P.K. doesn't end up working for a broadcasting hockey crew, we're all missing out on some amazing entertainment.

With the way media it going I doubt he goes mainstream.

Mainstream is dying.

He probably starts his own podcast.

I had hoped the next big broadcasting deal for the NHL would be with Dazn.

I've seen what they do with the NFL and it's pretty good stuff.

Wouldn't hate that

I am just sick of all the rules. Its much better to watch or listen to podcasts or read the athletic type articles.

I loved him (note the past tense). With that cap hit, thank you but no thank you.

I always wondered how he would have fit in Toronto with his larger than life personality.

It would have either been really good, or really, really bad.

There would have been no middle ground.

Whoever they get will be the 9th d men that will play in case lil or Sandin cant take playoff hockey.
- Santo_44

More likely a 7th dman. Sandin has played one nhl game this year, Lili last nhl game was what, 2019? Not sure they will be next in line come playoffs.
Im sure duby wants someone with nhl experience. Preferably

He's a rare Canadian hockey player who didn't have his personality beaten out of him coming through our hockey system.

Hell, he may be the only one.
