who wrote this? Simmonds?
I think we are being rather picky and stubborn if we care which 6-7 D man the Leafs got. They all look relatively the same.
Benn played 14 mins a night on a horrible Nucks team...I wont knock him for it. Hes probably better than that. But they are all the same and deliver similar results. Who cares. - Santo_44
Oh yes totally, every single guy in the league who's outside the top 6 is exactly the same. GMs basically flip coins when finding them, scouts throw darts at the draft if they're not going to be guaranteed top 6.
Teams with quality dependable options go deeper than teams who don't. That's been a point that's been reiterated in so many places I can't believe I'm taking the time to say it to you.
Its like you've never watched hockey at all and haven't seen the difference between what happens to the leafs come playoff time when they have to suit Marincin up, and the teams like Tampa and the options they had to throw in. |

Because you have determined its a useless stat, does not make it a useless stat.
From what I've watched of Hutton, he can be sloppy at both ends of the ice. Benn is more rugged and dependable in his own end and will beat your face in if you're out of line. I prefer that game in a depth option come playoff time. - joel878
I get the feeling that Hutton has consistently been deployed out of his depth. He's a 3rd pair guy playing too many minutes and should be protected.
I'm thinking he'll be just fine playing Dermott style minutes if and when he gets the chance. |

Contractor came to the front door with a quote. Dog was going crazy, so I opened the garage door to speak to him. A Scottish guy by the way with a heavy accent. He tells me he’s late with the quote because he had a Covid test and he had to isolate for ten days... even though he tested negative. I asked if he had symptoms which urged him to get tested. “No, I came in contact with someone who has Covid”. And he’s pissy about isolating...WTF! - Woderwick
I would be incredibly pissy if I had to isolate due to Covid.
I would do it. But I would 100% be pissy about it. |

I think Yzerman wins this trade based on getting a 1st and a 2nd round pick. I don't know enough about Vrana to say he's better or worse than Mantha is. Mantha has an incredible shot and a big body. When he's on his game he can't really be stopped.
Problem is that most of the time he's a floating perimeter player who doesn't work hard enough. I knew Yzerman was angry with Mantha's underwhelming game this season. He expected a big year out of Mantha after he signed him to that big contract extension.
I figured Yzerman would trade him this summer. But he obviously was given an offer he couldn't refuse. It's always if, if, if with Mantha. But the inconsistency and injuries added up to Mantha being traded. - gergeswillems
Vrana is better than Mantha.
It's forsberg for erat bad Type of deal for washington with the 1st and 2nd rounder thrown in, and panik is a serviceable 3rd liner as well.
Fleece of the year for sure |

Full disclosure, I'm just needling at this point. In a perfect world and we couldn't upgrade Dermott, next best thing for me would have been Benn as a #7, Merrill or Hutton as #8. I don't hate Hutton, I just have a different preference.
Happy to see some insulation before guys like Marincin and the rookies either way. |

I just had to isolate and I was pissy about it. Not in a isolations are stupid (frank) lockdowns kind of way, but in a I'm stuck at home for 10 days and there's only so much Netflix kind of way. It happens. 🤷🏻♂️ |

A year ago, I couldn't imagine quarantining at home for 14 days.
Now I know I could do it easily if I had to. |

That's a low bar. I'd actually prefer Calle Rosen have to step in before Marincin. |

Yzerman is annoyingly good with trades.
I can't remember a clear loss. This one appears to be a massive win.

This I get. This guy wanted to go back to work, stepping into other people’s homes...and he tries to shake hands every time I see him. Shook hands with our kitchen guys when he was here measuring. When he left they were staring at their hands like WTF!? “Got any hand sanitizer?” |

My first quarantine last April, I quit smoking cigarettes after 21 years. Longest I've ever been quit by a landslide.
I've probably been through at least 5 quarantines now, with that and unable to spend money like before I'm sure wife and I are going to Europe for a month when this is done. There's nothing to do but put money away.
That and my cooking game has gotten insanely good. There's been a lot of pros. Still makes me grumpy though, can only do so much in the house before its Xbox and naps. |

Pretty much, this.
I would like to see him with some Dermott minutes to see what he can do in a sheltered role though. |
