Meh, it's a 5th next year. Who cares?
- Aaron_85

If there's ever a year to punt the draft... Its probably these next covid ones. The lack of junior players playing is probably going to make them a total crapshoot.

How so?

And dont use plus minus.

- Santo_44

Oooh okay, I'm supposed to make a case to you as why but do so using your set of predetermined rules.

Yeah I don't care enough to play.

Fun with Excel:

The Leafs are currently playing at a .72 pace. If they go 8-7 over their remaining games (.53 pace), they will finish with 75 points.

Teams chasing us:

The Jets are currently playing at a .65 pace. They would need to go 11-4 (.73 pace) over their remaining games to catch us.

The Oilers are currently playing at a .62 pace. They would need to go 11-2-1 (.82 pace) over their remaining games to catch us.

The Habs are currently playing at a .57 pace. They would need to go 16-2 (.89 pace) over their remaining games to catch us.

Calgary, Vancouver and Ottawa wouldn't be able to catch us.

I'm still processing it.

Hard to see how you could've gotten much more though...

And perfect set-up for full tank mode next season?

The other two are better defensively. In the event we have to resort to the depth in the playoffs, I prefer not to have the feeling the puck will be in our net every single time he steps on the ice... Like I do with Marincin.

Prefer a guy who can step in and not be a liability. That's the difference.

- joel878

They're adding D to defence groups in need of help. We're adding insurance after adding great defensive help upfront. We've aligned our resources differently and better (better resources too)

I just said no plus minus because its a useless stat.

They are all very similar and that's why they were all had for similar prices.

I'm not overly concerned about this depth. I'm amazed by the names on Tampa's roster.

I was hoping they would do another deal and have a playoff cap hit of $100 million lol

They did insanely good for him, Vrana was picked ahead of Larkin and doesn't exactly look like he's busted... A 1st and 2nd and a player too? Damn.

Thanks Mr. Wedgie for your analysis.
I just don't want to play Winnipeg in the first round. Hellebuck scares the hell out of me not to mention their skilled forwards.

Because you have determined its a useless stat, does not make it a useless stat.

From what I've watched of Hutton, he can be sloppy at both ends of the ice. Benn is more rugged and dependable in his own end and will beat your face in if you're out of line. I prefer that game in a depth option come playoff time.

I feel your pain, brother.

Completely unsurprised by this decision and I predicted it to my wife a few weeks back.

Sigh. Can't roll these vaccines out soon enough... and I can't build a sound-proofed bunker/office soon enough.

- mjones242

My neighbour has an old brick garage in his backyard. It has to be 500-600 square feet.

Every franking day I stare at it with raging jealousy.

If it was mine, I would turn it into the world's greatest mancave. I'd put in a washroom with dog shower, bar, 3 TVs, dart board, big window to turn it into an outdoor bar in the summer, couches, outdoor kitchen, and one of these:

And then I'd put in a little poopy Ikea desk in the corner, and tell my family that it's my office and they need to stay out because I work on highly classified things.

I agree with you, but that doesn't change my desire to have quality options in place once playoffs hit and injuries with it. They will happen, we've seen it before. And what has been a damn good blueline could become a fragile one real fast.

That being said if my biggest complaint is Hutton over the other options that were moved, Dubas has done damn well.

who wrote this? Simmonds?

I think we are being rather picky and stubborn if we care which 6-7 D man the Leafs got. They all look relatively the same.

Benn played 14 mins a night on a horrible Nucks team...I wont knock him for it. Hes probably better than that. But they are all the same and deliver similar results. Who cares.

I think Yzerman wins this trade based on getting a 1st and a 2nd round pick. I don't know enough about Vrana to say he's better or worse than Mantha is. Mantha has an incredible shot and a big body. When he's on his game he can't really be stopped.

Problem is that most of the time he's a floating perimeter player who doesn't work hard enough. I knew Yzerman was angry with Mantha's underwhelming game this season. He expected a big year out of Mantha after he signed him to that big contract extension.

I figured Yzerman would trade him this summer. But he obviously was given an offer he couldn't refuse. It's always if, if, if with Mantha. But the inconsistency and injuries added up to Mantha being traded.

Contractor came to the front door with a quote. Dog was going crazy, so I opened the garage door to speak to him. A Scottish guy by the way with a heavy accent. He tells me he’s late with the quote because he had a Covid test and he had to isolate for ten days... even though he tested negative. I asked if he had symptoms which urged him to get tested. “No, I came in contact with someone who has Covid”. And he’s pissy about isolating...WTF!
