Mikheyev looked pretty good with Matthews - Aetherial
I think Matthews could make me look good out there. Good stand in front, keep your stick on the ice... |

If they want to go deep into the playoffs, it will take a total group effort. Thorton will be right in the middle. Love the vets Dubass brought in. - bixll
I'm a fan of all the moves (maybe less so Rittich, but I'm not going to dwell on it, particularly when I weigh it against the other options that were available).
Nash is sneaky clever because you get both the LTIR space and the player, obviously.
I was more trying to envision a maximized line-up - it's unclear to me.
Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Galchenyuk - Tavares - Nylander
Foligno - Nash - Mikheyev
?? - ?? -Simmonds
Leaving Spezza, Thornton, Engvall and Kerfoot fighting for two spots. Foligno could take that 2LW spot, which bumps Galchenuyk into the mix of guys fighting over 3 spots.
My personal favourites out of those players are Kerfoot and Engvall, but I would honestly take Spezza over Engvall. |

Kulikov only fetched a conditional 4th so either Dubas is aiming higher, or not doing much? |

Clickety-click, I play like sh . . .
You know, speaking of that . . I do find myself wondering if the team sort of has to play Thornton in the playoffs or if he's served his purpose. and they can sit him without causing problems with the team chemistry.
I mean, he came here thinking he could win a cup, not to sit in the press box. I wonder if that causes a problem. - Monkeypunk
Barbapapa has been just m'eh to me. A plug and play guy who hasn't hurt the Leafs but sure hasn't done much to impress.
Jumbo has to get some playoff time, he will be dressed and on the bench for game 1, round 1 likely on the 4th line barring any injuries etc. that push him up the line up. I think a 4th line # of minutes / shifts he will be fine and help keep the kids focused and calm if need be. Even just to have him there in the room, on the bench to reassure them and be the voice of reason is a huge +.
Where it's going to get tricky is balancing Jumbo, Spezza and Simmonds and who sits vs who plays because I just don't see all 3 of them playing at the same time if Nash is good to go and everyone is healthy.
There are a lot of good pieces to move around here for sure - which is great!

Agree. Spezza has earned his spot, to me.. I guess it is a good issue to have depth. Injuries do happen and will. Specially in the playoff where shot blocking is so critical. |

Yeah the depth may be the most important thing.

Spezza - Nash - Simmonds - Aetherial
Adding forwards Foligno, Nash, Galy, Simmonds, Thornton, Spezza and now bringing up Nick Robertson....
The various combinations Keefe could run for all 4 lines are going to make the job of the opposing teams' coaches very, very hard....and I like it!

based on the moves so far, a 1st plus other picks seems like a lot for Foligno
I was never against trading 2021 first, just feels like it was a bit high of a cost..based on what else we see |

It's the ability to cover injuries. Ad a decent depth D-man and they should be well positioned that way for the playoff grind.
Going to look silly if they lose in the first round again |

It is.
But it's what Doobie wanted. He didn't want Hall, so the comparative price is less important.
I think this draft is gonna be a totally random crapshoot outside of the top 5-10, even more than other years, with all the lockdowns and lack of scouting. |
