Gaudette's contract is expiring, though he is an RFA. How much is he expected to make on his next deal? Highmore is obviously cost controlled for next year, but even if Gaudette gets a little bump on his next deal, most of the salary will still be cost controlled. I'd think Gaudette could get some kind of draft pick if he commands a salary that they balked at paying.

I'm not sure what the ask would be but he produces around a 3L pace and the going rate for 3rd liners in Vancouver is $3-4m No idea why they wouldn't take a draft pick, Jimbo loves reclamation projects
