Unless it’s a 1rst rounder....then I don’t bother.....but there’s more Chucky has to consider....does he view Laughton as a Flyer next year ? Both in player and cap hit. The Flyers are probably toast this year....so now are they going to say take what we can get?...you know like bottom feeders do every trade dead line.

Even if Fletcher does see Laughton as part of the future of this team, that does no stop him from trading him to the highest bidder today. I am sure Laughton would relish a chance to play meaningful games, at least I hope he would. And in the off-season he can rejoin the Flyers.

Chucky bet on his core this year. It’s pretty simple....it let him down, much like it’s done for the last decade.....it’s the Flyers version of ground hog day. It is interesting to here the organization talk about how good they are and how surprised they are? The only thing smart out of Fletchers mouth this year is he doesn’t think the mix is right....no poop Sherlock.

That is why you move Laughton. If they don't I pray they overpay to resign him. Though not sure what would be funnier him walking or overpaying him.

Maybe though he was been a part of this country club atmosphere that Clode and Bobby have developed which looks like has crept into the "young" guys.

True . But risky if he really likes the player...I like Laughton as a 2 million dollar guy, not what he’s going to get.

I am not stuck on anyone as untouchable. Some clearly need great offer to move.

What I would like to know and probably never will is did the GM ask clode to waive? Did he explore the market for Couturier?

I don’t think they would do that....just like they wouldn’t put Vorecek on waivers despite his obvious distain for 200 foot hockey....we know he can do it as he proved last year....he chooses not to.

The only suspense to be had today is if Dave Scott’s action bias kicks in.

Pretty obvious those were just “words” to appease the fan base. Some suckers actually fell for that poop.

There's a good chance they then lose any chance at a hometown discount. Laughton is an important player but they can't afford to overpay for him.

Disturbing note found in Fletcher office.

Any chance anyone has a link to a stream of the TSN broadcast today? I know they'll be on US tv after 2 but was hoping to watch now.
Thanks!

The Flyers are in a very dangerous position. They obviously have to make some changes. However if upper management overreacts to this season, that could spell trouble moving forward. We've already seen how some trades and a UFA signing has not elevated the team. The Flyers two significant free agent signings, Hayes and JVR have not significantly elevated the team. They need to add a defenseman and possibly tweak the forward ranks. However if they attempt to use free agency, salary retention, buyouts etc and scramble up the cap. The run the risk of again becoming just a good team, in the 2nd tier of the league in a cap crunch. They should not mess up how Hextall set the team up.

Hometown discount. Times are tough and will give one to stay with this loser team. How comical. I am sure Couturier and clode will also give one to keep the band together.

He is important. With him they are not a playoff team. Cant imagine where they would be without him.

You know there is value is every experience, even bad ones, if you learn from it and improve. Fletcher I hope learned a lot about the make-up of this team, his younger players, aging veterans and coaching. He has plenty of data to work from now, and hopefully the changes will start today.

Possibly, that's laughable. Hextall hasnt set this team up at all. The vets are carrying this carcass. Maybe all these "young" guys aint all that great.

Laughtons AAV will be in the neighborhood of 3-3.5

Fletcher needs to look at all his options. He’s still cleaning up Hextall’s mess at the NHL level. It’s difficult but no one said it would be easy....it’s not like he inherited a good situation. Comical to suggest other wise when you see where team is today. Fletch has his work cut out for him.

I don't think Laughton is getting a raise in a flat cap era. Just my idiot opinion and I reserve the right to be wrong.

I’m not thinking it will be today...but we can hope. But obviously to do nothing just won’t happen. He can’t make moves, and to be clear I’m sure he wouldn’t, make moves to appease the fan base ..
