Be prepared to be disappointed today that Fletch doesn't trade our bad players with high cap hits for the other teams good players with low cap hits.

At what cost? The Flyers need cap space to add a defenseman.
- MJL

They would need to figure that out. That’s why they get the big bucks. Also, I mentioned a Foligno type player not specifically Foligno.

I am sure there are lower cost options that bring a strong work ethic like Foligno.

I still don’t think the leafs have strong enough d to compete with Tampa and the big teams but will make the semis being in that pathetic division.
- Hextall271

I would be shocked if they don’t get to the final four. Could not be more setup for them.

I believe they will lose in the final four. Of course they will probably win the cup just to give an extra jab to Flyers fans.

What I don't get Hextall was fired because of lack of action
And true CF was more active but too many players left to sign for different team.

I know Hall having a pretty bad year, but you’re gonna tell me another contender couldn’t beat Boston’s offer?

Regardless, the penguins have taken off and we’ve sunk to the depths. One year left for carter on that deal. They’re in win now mode so it makes sense. I can’t see any moves by fletch.
- Hextall271

That is surprising how? They are the city of champions. But hey the flyers never filed BK, or didn't use tax payer money for their arena. That is important.

If their is any interest in the UFA you take what you can get. If coburn can get a 7th rd pick surely Gus can right!!!!

playoff teams in the East loaded up last night, the Islanders, Penguins and Bruins with significant trades last night and last week. For the Flyers, they must be sellers at this point, but if they pry Ellis away from Nashville, they should do it, because it has to about next year now.

Most trades so far make sense. Did not see the Jeff Carter to Pitt deal. Guessing he will retire at the end of this year. But hope not. Please tie up their cap.

Bob Mac is reporting Penguins are close to landing Jeff Carter.

With Pittsburgh window closed why would Hextall be making this type of trade?

- PLindbergh31

Typical Hextall, start collecting the good ol' Flyer boys in a new place. If the Penguins offer a lot for Laughton, I make that deal.

Bill,

Any insight or forecast into today for CF? Is there any potential for a significant move for the future such as trading away a JVR or Jake to a team with Cup aspirations and plenty of cap like Florida? Or is today simply a day to get mid to late picks for expiring contracts with another promise of a “bias for action” in the offseason?

- mikeyo27

There is zero potential for the Flyers to be able to trade JVR or Voracek today.

He'll cost them 2.6M on the cap next year.

No team is taking Jake with 3 years at $8.25M in salary. No team is taking JVR with 2 more years at $7M in salary. Its foolhardy to ever believe Fletcher can get rid of our worst contracts at the trade deadline. He will have to save these for the off season. However Gust, Laughton, Raffl, these are players he can move to free up some space, maybe gain a few picks and open up spots for younger players to gain some NHL experience. That will be the extent of it for today I think.

I was holding out hope that maybe a player like Ellis could be obtained today, but now that is he is back from IR and Nashville is getting more comfortably in that 4th playoff spot, I don't see them trading Ellis today. Again in the off season is when this type of deal makes the most sense. Does a team like what Ghost is bringing and make an offer today for his services? That would be an interesting play.

Overall I expect some minor stuff today, and probably closer to the 3pm deadline.

Apparently not! Hall is not the same player. Reading some quote from scouts, his most recent knee troubles have really negatively impacted his speed and ability to get to the key scoring areas, he is not the same player he once was.

Not a lot of deals from western teams yesterday so today im feeling pretty good. I do believe Laughton gets dealt today. Along with raffl obviously. I think Elliott stays Bc we just don’t have the goalie bodies to get through the year

I see Laughton in Colorado but hoping for maybe a deal to a fringe playoff team (blues?) to have a shot at a 1st round lottery pick.

He brings a 3rd I'm thinking.
- therabbi

He'll bring a 2nd at least, and maybe a late 1st. And there is no reason to worry, the Flyers can always sign Laughton to a new deal in the off season.

I don't see Laughton getting a 1st round pick for a return based on other deals I'm seeing.

Hall to the Bruins......... They are not making the playoffs for sure now
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

The Bruins play by play guys have been bashing Hall for the past several weeks, I bet you anything that today they will be praising him and stating that he will break out now that he is playing with David Krieci. They are such frauds!
