Is Raffl the big locker room shake up move?
- Dkos

Yeah. Token moves to show that we have no hope of moving forward. Maybe the shakeup happens in the offseason

Gave up a lot for pretty similar production. Martha is signed, maybe Vrana isn’t?

What I think they’ll do is anything to get someone for Provy. After that they will have to move picks and pieces to upgrade their speed. If they bring in they have to send out, so I could see them using Patrick, lindblom and assets for the right fit. I can see them going bigger and using TK and even Farabee but that would have to be a situation where they win the on Ice trade, meaning they get that best nhl player and overpay with picks or prospects. They have so many options to change it up. However don’t sell low on any D prospects, Myers etc.

I do think the team needs to give frost ice time, that alone doesn’t bode well for Patrick, maybe even lindblom. I think most think Patrick’s ceiling is a competent C3, I am not sure I agree with that but I can surely understand why.

So were looking at giving up very promising young players and draft picks to improve the team. If they're going to do that, it better be for a top flight player such as Seth Jones. So they will be a team that is now older and has less prospects, draft picks and the cap will be all bungled up. Same as it was with Holmgren before Hextall took over. Sounds great.

I do think they are in a win now mode next season and I think they should be.

- wcorvette

They shouldn't be in win now mode at the expense of developing for the future.

My preference is the find that D, make a trade to bring in a speed piece or two that can play middle 6 and roll the dice on the bounce back.

Funny when it comes to D I think Sanheim and ghost are contributing the most from what was expected. Ghost without him, points from the D and puck control would be diminished, the most recent stretch anyway.

It's going to be very difficult. I agree that if Gostisbehere isn't here in the future, they need to replace his offensive ability.

It did not contribute, think what you want

Of course it did. Simple common sense.

So you think he would have played better if he just had been with Sanheim all year? I don’t think so

Whatever big moves the Flyers were going to make. It was never going to be at this deadline.

I don’t they will mortgage the future to do it, they have enough assets to change it up. The win now refers to when the new core hits 27-28, so Provy, Myers etc hitting their prime but it should start next season, makes the moves to make it possible

You are not, I’m specifically talking about your opinion that him playing games with Provy further hindered his year, he clearly was going to suck regardless, the team wasn’t great around him and he was even worse

Flyers are in the no man's land in between. They have some albatross contracts relative to production that they either can't move (NMC) or the salary cap situation across the league makes it impossible to move. They also have a contingent of young players whom they expect will develop into good NHL players in the next couple of years and, given the garbage returns at the TDL they don't feel there's any return sufficient to warrant giving up on their futures. Consider that in the context of not making the playoffs and the ED coming up soon, CF's hands are pretty much tied behind his back.

I understand the whining about not making big moves but such whining flies in the face of the reality of this team.

The team around him and the situations he has played in, is what made him worse. Same for Carter Hart.

5 years for a bottom 6 player. Smart move.

When are all these stud draft picks going to come along so they dont have to give out 5 year deals to this type of player?

Great signing. He might be the only player who gives a (Frank) night in and night out. The flyers made it clear they want him as part of the identity of this team and I agree.

Played a part for sure, but him playing 5 games with Provy had no affect on any of it

Doing what you think they will do will mortgage the future. Do you think they're going to be able to get similar age players back in return to make these up grades?

It's not reasonable to think that it didn't. A player who is struggling with his confidence and is frustrated combined with his youth and low experience level will be set back by that even more and/or start the process of a players struggles.

Ding dong, Gus is finally (frank)in gone! This gives Morin absolute certainty to see time the rest of the way.

I think Raffl being traded is long overdue. The loyalty was ridiculous. I’m glad Patrick is still here. I think next season will be more telling than this season after all he’s been through.

Blown away there is zero market for Ghost.

Kevin Hayes Laughton JVR and Bobby = roughly what 26 million tied p

How they going to be contenders anytime soon? My bad organic internal growth.

How many goals Laughton have the last15 games or so?

I am really glad we kept laughton but why didn't they wait until the off season so we don't have to protect him in the ED?

Can someone fill me in?
